Theme

Year Released
2013 - Debuted in the Galaxy Squad product launch. During this era, LEGO was experimenting with new translucent molds and highly specialized non-minifigure characters to compete with other action-figure-style toy lines.
Rarity
Uncommon. While only appearing in two sets, the Galaxy Squad theme was not as widely collected as Star Wars or Ninjago, making specific alien variants harder to find in good condition today.
Head
Non-standard; the figure consists of a single molded translucent neon green piece. The 'head' section features printed black and white eyes with a snarling, jagged-toothed mouth.
Torso
Integral to the body. Features small vestigial arms with standard 3.2mm bar-compatible LEGO hands. No separate torso/arm assembly.
Legs
None; the figure has a 'blob' or 'slime' base with two small protrusions at the rear, designed to sit on studs like a 1x2 plate area.
Accessories
Usually none included with the figure itself, though often depicted with small alien 'cocoons' (part 12891) in marketing. The hands can hold standard accessories like lightsabers or blasters.
Color Scheme
Primary: Trans-Neon Green. This color is highly reactive to UV light, giving it a 'glowing' radioactive appearance under blacklights.
Printing Details
Simple pad printing on the face area consisting of black outlines and white highlights for the eyes and teeth. Due to the curved, translucent surface, print alignment can vary slightly between units.
Variants
Standard version (Trans-Neon Green) and a 'Slizer' version which used a similar mold but in different contexts. Within Galaxy Squad, there is also 'Rogegon' (gs003) which uses a similar translucent aesthetic but in different colors/shapes.
Condition Notes
Prone to light surface scratches which can dull the translucent clarity. The hands are a common failure point; since they are part of a single mold, a cracked clip means the entire figure must be replaced.
Estimated Value
New/Mint: $4.00 - $6.00 USD. Used: $2.50 - $4.00 USD. Value is relatively low but stable due to it being a specialized 'minion' figure.
Price (New)
N/A (Included in sets ranging from $11.99 to $69.99). As a small alien critter, its individual value at retail was roughly $1.50 within the set's piece count.
Compatible Sets
70700 Space Sworder (2013), themed around a small interceptor; 70704 Parameter Vaporizer (2013), a mid-sized lab/vehicle set.
Character Background
Glutinous is an alien 'bug' minion from the Galaxy Squad universe. These creatures were part of an invading insectoid hive mind that captured humans in gelatinous cocoons. They represent the expendable ground forces of the alien hive.
Design Notes
Features a unique single-piece mold that departs from the traditional 'blocky' LEGO aesthetic. It was designed to look organic, fluid, and gross. The inclusion of standard clips for hands allows it to interact with the broader LEGO system despite its alien shape.
Similar Minifigures
Rogegon (gs003), Alien Mosquitoid (gs001), and various Slimer variants from the Ghostbusters theme.
Collectibility
Moderate. Collectors of 'space' themes or 'weird' LEGO creatures value them, but they are generally viewed as accessory figures rather than primary character targets.
History
Galaxy Squad (2013) followed Alien Conquest (2011). This figure represents LEGO's move toward more detailed, mold-specific creature designs compared to the brick-built aliens of the early 2000s.
Interesting Facts
The mold for Glutinous is often referred to by fans as the 'small alien larva' and is one of the few figures where the legs and torso are entirely fused into a single non-articulated piece.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed under a UV/Blacklight to take advantage of the Trans-Neon Green plastic. They look excellent in 'swarms' or inside the specialized alien cocoons found in the larger Galaxy Squad sets.
Modification Potential
Excellent for SCI-FI MOCs as environmental hazards, slime monsters, or radioactive spills. The 3.2mm hands allow for the attachment of chemical tubes or weapons.
Overall Assessment
A charming and unique piece of LEGO's sci-fi history. While not high-value, its distinct mold and vibrant color make it a standout 'background' character for any specimen jar or alien landscape. Quality: 7/10; Collectibility: 5/10.
