Figure ID

Theme
Marvel Super Heroes
Year Released
2020 (Released in Set 76153 Avengers Helicarrier)
Rarity
Uncommon. This figure is exclusive to a single, relatively high-priced set, though that set had a standard retail life cycle.
Head
Large specialized mold. Features a light flesh face with heavy wrinkles, white eyes, a grimacing mouth, a purple headband with a red jewel, and molded brown hair on top and gold mechanical detailing on the sides.
Torso
The figure uses a standard gold-colored torso piece to represent the 'Doomsday Chair' chest plate, with purple arms and purple hands. Printing is minimal on the torso base itself as the head piece covers most of it.
Legs
Standard short legs in Dark Purple. Note: In the official set, M.O.D.O.K. is often meant to be built into a larger brick-built chair, but the core minifigure uses these legs for mobility.
Accessories
Commonly paired with a brick-built hover chair (not pictured). The figure itself does not typically carry handheld tools or weapons as his body is the weapon.
Color Scheme
Primary: Pearl Gold and Dark Purple. Accents: Light Flesh, Brown, and Red. Traditional comic-accurate color palette.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the oversized head element. The facial features are crisp, and the purple/red headband is perfectly aligned. No leg or arm printing.
Variants
This is the 2020 comic-inspired version. A previous version (sh100) from 2014 featured a different head mold and a 'Yellow/Blue' AIM-themed color scheme.
Condition Notes
The oversized head mold is heavy; check for loose neck connections. The pearl gold plastic on the head can show scuffs easily. Short legs are prone to typical heel-cracking over time.
Estimated Value
Used: $12 - $18 USD. New: $22 - $28 USD. Prices vary based on whether the additional brick-built chair components are included.
Price (New)
Included in set 76153 (Avengers Helicarrier) which retailed for $119.99 USD in 2020.
Compatible Sets
76153-1 (Avengers Helicarrier).
Character Background
M.O.D.O.K. is George Tarleton, a technician for AIM who underwent mutagenic medical experimentation to increase his intelligence, resulting in a giant head and stunted body. He is a primary antagonist for the Avengers and Captain America.
Design Notes
This 2020 design utilizes a massive unique mold for the head that snaps onto a standard torso. It represents a more modern comic/game aesthetic compared to the 2014 version.
Similar Minifigures
M.O.D.O.K. (sh100), Arnim Zola (sh074), and the large-form Thanos figures.
Collectibility
Medium-High. M.O.D.O.K. is a fan-favorite 'weird' villain. Because he only appears in one set in this specific form, he is a target for Marvel completionists.
History
First introduced in 2014 in a more 'classic' yellow look. This 2020 update coincided with the release of the Marvel's Avengers video game and a general refresh of the LEGO Marvel Avengers line.
Interesting Facts
This minifigure is technically 'cheating' the scale, as M.O.D.O.K. is usually a 'Big-Fig' size character, but LEGO opted for a standard torso with a massive head piece to maintain playability.
Display Suggestions
Display within the 76153 Helicarrier or on a transparent flight stand to simulate his hovering chair. Pairs well with AIM Agents (sh632).
Modification Potential
Great for MOCs (My Own Creations) of larger mechanical chairs or 'techno-organic' monsters. The head piece is highly sought after by custom creators.
Overall Assessment
An excellent, accurate representation of a difficult-to-scale character. The head mold is a feat of LEGO design, making it a standout addition to any Marvel collection.
