Figure ID

Theme

Star Trek (Mega Bloks/Construx Equivalent)

Year Released

2016 - Released as part of the Mega Bloks Star Trek line celebrating the 50th Anniversary

Rarity

Uncommon - This is a non-LEGO building block figure from Mega Bloks (now Mega Construx). It is part of the Collector Series, which had limited distribution compared to LEGO brands.

Head

Flesh-toned plastic with painted facial features including brown eyebrows and a slight smirk. Features a unique hair mold in dark orange/brown specifically designed to mimic DeForest Kelley's hairstyle.

Torso

Blue medical/science officer tunic with a black V-neck collar and the Starfleet Delta insignia printed on the chest. The 'torso' is highly articulated with ball joints at the shoulders, distinct from the LEGO block style.

Legs

Solid black pants with no printing. These feature the signature Mega Bloks super-poseable joints at the hips, knees, and ankles, which allow for significantly more movement than a standard LEGO minifigure.

Accessories

Missing in image. Originally included a medical tricorder or a phaser and a display stand with the character's name.

Color Scheme

A 'Sciences' blue primary color for the tunic, black for the pants and collar, and flesh tones for the skin.

Printing Details

High precision for the scale, specifically the Starfleet Delta insignia on the chest and the facial features. Unlike LEGO, the paint often wraps around more complex surfaces due to the figure's sculptural nature.

Variants

Standard version and a version appearing in the bridge set. Later variations in different scales exist (Kubros), but this is the articulated micro-action figure.

Condition Notes

Prone to loose joints over time, particularly at the ankles and knees. The paint on the Starfleet insignia is susceptible to scratching or rubbing off with heavy handling.

Estimated Value

Used: $5.00 - $12.00 USD. Value is significantly higher if part of the complete Bridge set (DPY61) or original blister pack.

Price (New)

Originally released in blind bags/single packs for approximately $3.99-$4.99 or as part of larger sets ranging from $20 to $250.

Compatible Sets

Mega Bloks Star Trek Series 1, Set DPY61 (U.S.S. Enterprise Bridge), Set DPH82 (Transporter Room).

Character Background

Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy is the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: TOS, known for his curmudgeonly attitude and close friendship with Captain Kirk and Spock.

Design Notes

Mega Bloks shifted to 'Super Poseable' micro-figures around this time to appeal to collectors, moving away from the blocky LEGO aesthetic toward something more like 'miniature action figures'.

Similar Minifigures

Mega Bloks Captain Kirk, Spock, and Uhura from the same anniversary line. In the LEGO world, there is no official equivalent as LEGO does not hold the Star Trek license.

Collectibility

High for Star Trek fans but niche for brick collectors. Since Mega Construx has slowed its licensed output, these specific figures are becoming harder to find in good condition.

History

Launched for the 50th anniversary of the franchise in 2016; this was the first time the Star Trek license was handled with high-quality, articulated brick-compatible figures.

Interesting Facts

Despite looking like a 'LEGO' figure, this is technically a 'Micro Action Figure.' Collectors often prefer these over LEGO for licensed themes because they allow for more realistic proportions and better posing.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on the included nameplate stand or within the Mega Bloks Enterprise Bridge set. Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent the thin blue plastic from fading.

Modification Potential

Low due to the specialized ball-joint system. Parts are mostly compatible only with other Mega Construx figures (Call of Duty, Halo) rather than LEGO.

Overall Assessment

A solid representation of a classic sci-fi icon. While not a 'true' LEGO minifigure, it is a high-quality collectible for fans of the source material. Quality rating: 8/10 for articulation and likeness.
