Figure ID
tnt047
Theme
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Year Released
2014, debuting in the Kraang Lab Escape set
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While it was in a retail set, the TMNT license was short-lived (2012-2014), making cartoon-accurate figures like this highly desirable.
Head
Black head with teal/blue digital eye printing and small mouth details. Note: The red construction hat in the image is not original to this figure.
Torso
Medium Blue with Kraang's brain-like face inside a robotic chest cavity on the front and mechanical panel printing on the back; black hands and medium blue arms.
Legs
Medium Blue with detailed mechanical armor plating, pink circular highlights, and grey joint details printed on the front.
Accessories
Original set included a laser pistol and Kraang's brain form (small pink piece). The red hat shown is an aftermarket addition or part from a different set.
Color Scheme
Medium Blue base with Light Purple (brain), Magenta highlights, and Silver/Grey mechanical details.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on torso (front/back) and legs (front). Specifically features the 'cranky' brain face which is iconic to the 80s series.
Variants
This is the 'Classic' Krang. It differs from the CGI-movie/2012 show versions (tnt011) which are translucent and have different robotic suit designs.
Condition Notes
Common wear includes scratches on the chest print and loose arm hinges. Silver ink is prone to rubbing off over time with play.
Estimated Value
Used: $12 - $20 USD. Incomplete/Mixed parts: $5 - $10 USD. New: Often sold as part of the full set ($60+).
Price (New)
Set 79100 retail price was $12.99 USD in 2013/2014, providing a very low entry point at the time.
Compatible Sets
79100 Kraang Lab Escape (2014).
Character Background
Krang is a warlord from Dimension X who lost his body and resides in a robot suit. This design mimics the 1987 animated series.
Design Notes
LEGO utilized the medium blue color to replicate the dull steel of the cartoon suit while using bright magenta for the brain to pop against the blue.
Similar Minifigures
The standard 'The Kraang' (tnt011), Shredder (tnt042), and Foot Soldier (tnt043) from the same wave.
Collectibility
High. LEGO no longer holds the TMNT license, so these figures are essentially 'retired forever' unless a new deal is struck.
History
Released during the final wave of LEGO TMNT before the license moved to Mega Bloks. It was a fan-service figure for adult fans of the original show.
Interesting Facts
Despite being an 'evil brain', this minifigure's head is completely black to allow the teal eyes to appear as if coming from inside a helmet visor.
Display Suggestions
Display alongside the 2014 Classic Michelangelo in a laboratory-themed diorama. UV protection is recommended to prevent the medium blue from fading.
Modification Potential
Excellent for robot MOCs. The torso print is one of the few that features a 'pilot' contained within a larger body design.
Overall Assessment
A standout figure for 80s/90s nostalgia collectors. The red hat in the provided image should be removed for purist accuracy, but the core figure is in good condition.
