Iron Man Mark 6 (MK VI)

Figure ID

sh015

Theme

Marvel Super Heroes

Year Released

2012 (Debuted in the first wave of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets following the 2011 promotional figures)

Rarity

Uncommon / Rare. While it appeared in two sets, it was part of the highly sought-after initial Avengers wave. Its value has climbed significantly as it was many fans' first introduction to a 'standard' Iron Man suit.

Head

Double-sided flesh-toned head featuring Tony Stark with a goatee. One side has a determined smirk, the other a focused scowling expression. Includes a Dark Red helmet with an opening gold-colored faceplate (note: the faceplate is flipped open in the image).

Torso

Dark Red torso with circular Arc Reactor printing (silver/light blue) on the chest. Features complex mechanical plating designs in gold and black on both front and back. The gold is a metallic 'Pearl Gold' print. Dark red arms and hands.

Legs

Dark Red legs and hips. The hips and upper legs feature Pearl Gold and silver mechanical detailing. This was notable for the era for having significant leg printing, which was less common in 2012.

Accessories

Trans-light blue 1x1 round plates and 'stud shooters' or slides were often included in the original sets to represent repulsor blasts, though they are not pictured on the figure itself. The primary functional accessory is the articulated visor.

Color Scheme

Primary Dark Red with Pearl Gold and Silver secondary accents. The light blue of the Arc Reactor provides a bright focal point.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing. This figure is notable for the triangular and circular fusion of detail on the chest, specific to the Mark 6 suit from Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. Printing covers the head (dual), torso (dual), and front of the legs.

Variants

This specifically is the Mark 6. It is often confused with the Mark 7 (sh036), which has a circular arc reactor but different chest plating. This version has the distinct silver/triangular framing around the reactor.

Condition Notes

Common wear points include the hinge of the helmet's faceplate (can become loose or snap) and the 'arm pits' of the torso which are prone to hairline cracks over time. Check for silver/gold paint rubbing on the toes.

Estimated Value

Used: $35 - $50 USD | New: $65+ USD. Prices have stabilized but remain high due to the nostalgia of the 2012 Avengers wave.

Price (New)

Available in sets ranging from $25 (6867) to $70 (6868) in 2012. Price-per-figure was standard for licensed lines at the time.

Compatible Sets

Found in 6867 (Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape) and 6868 (Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout).

Character Background

Tony Stark's sixth primary Iron Man armor, notable for being the first to utilize a vibranium-core arc reactor. It was used during the battle at the Stark Expo and the initial capture of Loki in Germany during 'The Avengers'.

Design Notes

This was the first iteration of the 'classic' LEGO Iron Man helmet mold which lasted for nearly a decade. It was praised for its accuracy and the playability of the opening mask, though it makes the head look slightly oversized.

Similar Minifigures

sh036 (Mark 7), sh007 (Mark 6 - Toy Fair Exclusive version, which is ultra-rare), and sh213 (Mark 45).

Collectibility

High. As one of the 'original six' MCU movie figures, it is a cornerstone for any Marvel collector. Demand remains steady as new fans enter the hobby and seek older armors.

History

Following a very limited Toy Fair 2011 release of a different Iron Man print, sh015 represented the first time general consumers could purchase an Iron Man minifigure, marking a milestone in LEGO's history with Disney/Marvel.

Interesting Facts

Despite the Mark 6 having a triangular reactor in the film, the LEGO version uses a circular white print with a grey triangular border to bridge the gap between suit designs.

Display Suggestions

Looks best in an 'Armor Room' or Hall of Armor MOC. If displaying alone, use a clear posing stand to mimic flight with trans-blue studs on the feet.

Modification Potential

Excellent for purist customs; the head and helmet are frequently used for other Iron Man variants. The torso is a popular base for 'Mark' iterations not officially produced by LEGO.

Overall Assessment

A 9/10 classic. While newer Iron Man figures have more sophisticated 'toe printing' and slimmer helmets, the sh015 Mark 6 remains the definitive 'old school' Marvel minifigure for many collectors.
