Captain Jonas - Possessed

Figure ID

hs006

Theme

Hidden Side

Year Released

2019 (Released in the first wave alongside set 70419 Wrecked Shrimp Boat)

Rarity

Common to Uncommon. While restricted to a specific set, the Hidden Side theme was widely available during its short production run and hasn't yet reached extreme vintage rarity.

Head

Trans-neon green head with printing depicting a ghostly, decaying face with a mustache and sunken yellow eyes. Included is a bright light orange (yellow) hood piece (sou'wester style).

Torso

Bright light orange (yellow) fisherman's raincoat with a detailed dark bluish gray sweater print underneath. Black gloved hands and detailed pocket/zipper printing on the front.

Legs

Bright light orange (yellow) pants with simple printing details representing the bottom of the raincoat and boots. Standard minifigure leg mold.

Accessories

Transparent neon green 'tentacle' or 'ghost energy' back attachment (neck bracket with four points) that simulates possession. Note: The set usually includes a normal human head/hair to swap between 'normal' and 'possessed' modes.

Color Scheme

Dominant bright light orange (yellow) representing classic sea-faring rain gear, accented by glowing transparent neon green for the ghostly element and dark gray/black details.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the head to achieve the translucent 'ghoul' effect. Detailed torso printing matching the aesthetic of modern LEGO City or Hidden Side themes.

Variants

A non-possessed version of Captain Jonas exists (using the same torso/legs but a flesh-toned head/hair). This specific figure is the 'Ghoul' or 'Possessed' variant.

Condition Notes

Frequent play can cause scratches on the transparent neon green head. The yellow hood piece is prone to typical LEGO bite marks or edge wear if handled roughly. Check for stress marks on the back-attachment clips.

Estimated Value

Used: $3.00 - $6.00 USD; New/Mint: $6.00 - $9.00 USD. Value is relatively low due to the high volume of Hidden Side clearance sets sold.

Price (New)

Included in set 70419 Wrecked Shrimp Boat, which originally retailed for $29.99 USD in 2019.

Character Background

Captain Jonas is a local fisherman in the fictional town of Newbury who becomes possessed by 'The Hidden Side' ghosts. He is a primary antagonist/victim in the theme's lore, which was supported by an Augmented Reality (AR) app.

Design Notes

Unique use of the transparent neon green head to show the transition between the physical world and the ghost realm. The hood piece is a classic maritime mold reused in a modern color.

Similar Minifigures

Jack Davids, Parker L. Jackson, and other Hidden Side ghosts like Captain Archibald (hs014).

Collectibility

Medium. Hidden Side collectors seek all possessed variants, but because the theme was recently discontinued, there is plenty of supply. Highly desirable for MOC builders creating Lovecraftian or horror scenes.

History

Hidden Side was LEGO's major push into 'Digital Play' (2019-2020). Captain Jonas represents the early design language of the theme focusing on everyday citizens turning into monsters.

Interesting Facts

The trans-neon green color of the head and tentacles was chosen specifically to register better with the AR app's scanning technology at the time.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in a nautical LEGO scene or a haunted house vignette. Use a backlight to make the transparent green parts 'glow' for a more eerie effect.

Modification Potential

Excellent for 'Deep One' or HP Lovecraft-inspired customs. The raincoat torso and legs are popular for custom LEGO City harbor workers.

Overall Assessment

A well-executed theme-specific figure with great 'horror' aesthetic. Standout feature is the ghost-possessed head. A solid buy for any fan of the short-lived but creative Hidden Side line.
