Year Released
2015 - Released as part of the fourth wave of Ninjago, specifically debuting in the 'DBX' set during the Tournament of Elements storyline.
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While not a limited convention exclusive, he appeared in only one standard retail set, making him much harder to find than grunt soldiers or ninja variants.
Head
Unique combined head and neck mold. It features a long, curved purple neck with black and gold scale printing. The head has red eyes, white fangs, and a blue diamond emblem printed on the forehead.
Torso
Purple torso with intricate scale and chest plate printing. Design features a gold and black spinal/chest motif with light blue accents. Black arms and black hands are attached.
Legs
Tail piece (Part 10302pp1). A specialized purple coiled snake tail with black and gold scale printing on the front. This replaces standard legs to emphasize the character's Serpentine anatomy.
Accessories
Usually paired with a gold or silver Anacondrai blade (weapon not shown in image). The figure itself uses no headgear or capes, as the mold is highly specialized.
Color Scheme
Primary: Dark Purple. Accents: Black, Flat Silver, Gold, and Trans-Light Blue. The scheme is designed to match the Anacondrai tribe's royal and menacing aesthetic.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the head, neck, torso, and tail. The printing is continuous across the upper and lower body parts, which was a high standard for 2015.
Variants
There are three main variants: the original white version (njo041) from 2012, this purple version (njo129), and a later 'Legacy' version with slightly different printing (njo630).
Condition Notes
The primary concern is the 'neck' joint where it meets the torso and the 'hip' joint; repeated removal can loosen the clutch. The thin tail tip is also susceptible to stress marks or snapping if stepped on.
Estimated Value
Used: $50 - $75 USD. New/Mint: $85 - $110 USD. Prices fluctuate based on the condition of the delicate tail printing.
Price (New)
Originally included in set 70750 Ninja DBX which retailed for $79.99 USD in 2015.
Compatible Sets
70750 Ninja DBX (2015).
Character Background
Pythor is the last surviving member and king of the Anacondrai tribe. Originally bleached white from starvation, he regained his purple color in the 2015 TV season. He is a primary recurring antagonist in the Ninjago series.
Design Notes
This figure uses the unique 'Serpentine' body mold introduced in 2012. The design successfully captures his elongated, serpentine silhouette which is much taller than a standard minifigure.
Similar Minifigures
Pythor (Original White - njo041), Arcturus (njo132), and other Serpentine generals like Skales or Fangtom.
Collectibility
High. Pythor is widely considered the best villain in the Ninjago franchise. Any version of him is a 'holy grail' for Ninjago-specific collectors.
History
Pythor's release marked a major milestone as the first 'leader' character to receive a completely different color redesign that remained canon to the show's storyline.
Interesting Facts
Despite being a 'minifigure,' Pythor's unique mold makes him nearly two standard minifigures tall. The blue diamond on his head represents his status as the Anacondrai King.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed on a transparent stand or a raised platform to showcase the length of the tail. Looks excellent next to a 10th Anniversary Golden Ninja or the 71737 X-1 Ninja Charger.
Modification Potential
Limited due to the specialized neck and tail molds. However, the tail part is highly sought after by MOC builders for creating custom dragons or nagas.
Overall Assessment
A top-tier LEGO villain figure. Its unique silhouette, character importance, and striking color palette make it an essential piece for Ninjago fans. Rating: 9.5/10.
