Theme
NINJAGO
Year Released
2019 - Debuted in the summer wave alongside the Season 11 of the Ninjago TV series. This era marked a shift to 11-minute episodes and a new animation style.
Rarity
Uncommon. While she was the main antagonist of her wave, she only appeared in two sets: the expensive Land Bounty and the Fire Fang set.
Head
The head is a unique mold featuring a pearl gold cobra design with an open mouth and red eyes. It transitions into a dual-molded trans-orange material at the back of the hood to simulate a glowing fire effect.
Torso
Pearl gold torso with intricate scale-like printing, featuring a 'Forbidden Spinjitzu' scroll emblem on the back. It features trans-orange arms to match the elemental fire theme.
Legs
Features a trans-orange 'ghost' or 'snake tail' lower body element (Part 19859pb05) with internal marble/swirl effects in yellow and orange. This part does not have traditional legs but a swirling smoke/fire base.
Accessories
Commonly equipped with the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu on a staff, though the scroll itself is a separate highly detailed tile/element. In the image, the figure is shown without handheld accessories.
Color Scheme
Dominant Pearl Gold and Trans-Neon Orange, accented with yellow swirls and dark tan/brown printing for scale details.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the torso front and back. The snake tail is dual-molded rather than printed, providing a high-end elemental look. The head mold has precise eye and fang markings.
Variants
This is the primary version of Aspheera. A later version (njo761) was released for the 'Crystalized' wave (2022) featuring a 'Crystallized' aesthetic with different colors and translucent purple elements.
Condition Notes
The trans-orange tail is made of a different plastic than standard legs and can be prone to scratching. Check the neck connection on the head mold for stress marks, and ensure the trans-orange arms are not cracked at the elbows.
Estimated Value
Used: $8.00 - $12.00 USD; New (taken from sealed set): $13.00 - $18.00 USD. Value is stable as she is a central villain.
Price (New)
Appeared in sets 70677 Land Bounty ($129.99) and 70674 Fire Fang ($39.99).
Compatible Sets
70677 Land Bounty, 70674 Fire Fang, and briefly featured in some Ninjago activity books as a promotional reference.
Character Background
Aspheera is a Serpentine sorceress and the main antagonist of the Fire Chapter. She was imprisoned for centuries by young Wu and Garmadon and sought revenge by stealing Kai's fire powers to reawaken her army.
Design Notes
Uses the 'ghost tail' mold first introduced in the LEGO Ninjago: Possession line but reimagined in translucent orange. The head mold is specifically designed to represent a hooded cobra (Serpentine).
Similar Minifigures
Pythor P. Chumsworth, General Kozu, Lord Garmadon, and other Serpentine leaders like Skales or Acidicus.
Collectibility
High for Ninjago completionists. As a lead villain with a unique dual-molded head and tail piece, she is a standout display piece for the 'Fire Chapter' collection.
History
Aspheera represents the evolution of Serpentine designs from 2012, moving from simple printed heads to complex, dual-molded large head pieces and elemental translucent parts.
Interesting Facts
Aspheera is the first female Serpentine leader introduced in the series. Her name is a play on 'Asps' and 'Sphaera' (Latin for sphere/orb).
Display Suggestions
Looks best when placed on a dark baseplate to make the trans-orange tail 'pop'. Surround her with Pyro Vipers (njo521) to create a throne room scene.
Modification Potential
The head piece is popular for MOC (My Own Creation) builders making Egyptian-themed gods or custom fire monsters. The tail is widely used for fire elementals.
Overall Assessment
A top-tier Ninjago villain figure. The use of translucent plastics and pearl gold gives it a premium feel that exceeds standard City or Star Wars rank-and-file figures.
