Year Released
2015 - Released as part of the Summer wave alongside the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu Season 5 television arc.
Rarity
Uncommon. While not a limited promotional item, this specific 'Deepstone' variant was only available in three retail sets during the 2015 production run.
Head
Yellow skin tone with green eyes and 'stern' eyebrows. It features a dual-sided print with a determined expression on one side and a focused/angry expression on the other. It is paired here with a Green Ninja Wrap mask.
Torso
Black torso with green arms and black hands. The print features the Deepstone armor pattern with a lime green dragon emblem on the right chest, gold buckles, and a green sash/belt. Printing extends to the back showing continuation of the sash.
Legs
Black legs with green and gold printing on the front. The design includes 'Deepstone' ornate robe details and knee-level gold accents. There is no side leg printing.
Accessories
Includes a Black Armor Neck Bracket with two katana slots on the back. While often sold with silver katanas or an Aero-Blade in sets, the figure shown currently only has the armor piece and the green lower-face mask.
Color Scheme
Primary colors are Black and Green (the signature color of the Green Ninja). Accents include Gold and Lime Green, representing the specialized material 'Deepstone' used to fight ghosts.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing typical of the mid-2010s. Features sharp metallic gold accents on the torso and legs. The registration between the green and gold is generally very precise.
Variants
Standard Lloyd (njo149) with regular green eyes; also exists in a 'Possessed' version (njo163) with black/purple eyes and a ghost-like face print representing Morro's possession.
Condition Notes
The most common wear points are the 'toe' of the feet (chipping) and the gold printing on the torso, which can rub off with play. Check for cracks on the sides of the torso under the arms and stress marks on the neck peg from the armor.
Estimated Value
Used Complete: $8.00 - $12.00 USD. New/Mint: $15.00 - $20.00 USD. Note: Value is heavily dependent on the presence of the original hair piece (not pictured) and weapons.
Price (New)
This figure appeared in sets ranging from $30.00 (70733) up to $120.00 (70736). It was never sold as a standalone low-cost polybag or CMF.
Compatible Sets
70733 Blaster Bike, 70736 Attack of the Morro Dragon, 70734 Master Wu Dragon.
Character Background
Lloyd Garmadon, the Elemental Master of Energy and the Ultimate Spinjitzu Master. In the 'Possession' arc, Lloyd is possessed by the ghost Morro, but this specific minifigure represents his gear used to resist the ghostly invasion.
Design Notes
The Deepstone armor series was a notable departure from traditional Gi designs, emphasizing a darker, tactical 'ghost-hunting' aesthetic. This was the first era where Ninjago figures began using more complex pearl-gold print layering.
Similar Minifigures
njo163 (Possessed Lloyd), njo147 (Kai - Deepstone), njo150 (Cole - Deepstone), and njo151 (Jay - Deepstone).
Collectibility
High. Ninjago collectors often seek to complete the full 'Deepstone' team. Lloyd remains the most popular character in the franchise, ensuring stable demand.
History
Lloyd debuted in 2012 as a child. This 2015 version represents his 'teen' phase after his aging in the Stone Army arc. This version was eventually succeeded by the 'Skybound' and 'Hands of Time' designs.
Interesting Facts
The 'Deepstone' material lore-wise is made from condensed sea-sand, which is why the color scheme was darkened to black to signify its unique properties against spirits.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed with the other five ninja in their Deepstone outfits inside a tiered acrylic case. Looks excellent when paired with the transparent-green Ghost Warrior enemies from the same wave.
Modification Potential
The black torso and legs are popular for custom 'Dark Ninja' or 'Urban Rogue' MOCs. The green mask is a standard part that can be swapped for a hair piece (Tan, Tousled) to match his unmasked look.
Overall Assessment
A solid, mid-era Ninjago figure. It is a 'must-have' for fans of the Season 5 storyline. While common enough to be affordable, its aesthetic appeal and character importance make it a staple of any LEGO Ninjago collection.
