Battle Droid Commander (Reddish Brown with Yellow Dots)

Figure ID

sw0467

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2013 (First appeared in set 75019 AT-TE)

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While the droids themselves are simple, this specific commander variant appeared in only a few sets compared to the standard tan droids, making it more sought after by army builders.

Head

Standard OOM-series battle droid head mold in reddish brown. Features a small yellow circular print on the forehead representing the commander status.

Torso

Reddish brown battle droid mechanical torso with a single yellow dot on the chest. The arms are dark bluish gray, which is a specific color-blocking layout for this specific commander variant.

Legs

Standard straight battle droid legs in dark bluish gray. Note that the legs and arms match in color while the head and torso are reddish brown.

Accessories

Typically paired with a black blaster rifle (small or large), though none are shown in the image. Sometimes seen with a dark bluish gray backpack plate and two 1x2 transparent plate 'antenna' in certain sets.

Color Scheme

Reddish Brown and Dark Bluish Gray with Yellow accent dots. This color scheme represents the Geonosis-deployed or specialized Clone Wars era commander units.

Printing Details

Minimal but precise. Small yellow pad-printed dots on the forehead and the center of the chest. No back or leg printing exists for this mold.

Variants

Standard Tan Commander (sw0001), Security Droid (Red), Pilot Droid (Blue), Geonosis Droid (sw0320 - all dark orange), and the standard Dark Orange variants without yellow dots.

Condition Notes

Prone to 'brittle brown' syndrome where the reddish brown plastic can become fragile over time. Check for stress marks on the arm clips and the horizontal pin on the leg assembly. Loose joints are common in used figures.

Estimated Value

$4.00 - $8.00 USD used. Can reach $10.00+ in mint condition. The price is driven by collectors wanting to 'army build' specific Separatist battalions.

Price (New)

N/A (Individual figure). Originally packaged in sets ranging from $30 (75016) to $90 (75019).

Compatible Sets

75019 AT-TE (2013), 75016 Homing Spider Droid (2013), 75023 Star Wars Advent Calendar 2013.

Character Background

OOM-series battle droids were specialized versions of the B1 battle droid. Commanders were programmed with more independent thought and were identified by yellow markings. This specific reddish-brown version is associated with the Battle of Geonosis and the Separatist droid armies seen in the Clone Wars TV series.

Design Notes

This figure uses the updated 2007-era arm mold (one vertical hand, one horizontal hand) which allows it to hold a blaster properly, unlike the 1999 version with two horizontal hands.

Similar Minifigures

sw0320 (Geonosis Battle Droid), sw0001c (Tan Commander), sw0468 (Standard Geonosis Battle Droid without yellow dots).

Collectibility

High for Star Wars fans. Collectors often seek dozens of these to create accurate Geonosis dioramas. Demand remains stable as long as the Clone Wars era remains popular.

History

The Battle Droid mold is one of the oldest in LEGO history. This specific color-split (brown/gray) was introduced to better match the cinematic appearance of droids on the rust-colored planet of Geonosis.

Interesting Facts

The yellow dot on the chest is often misaligned on many factory copies, making a perfectly centered dot more desirable. This is one of the few battle droids to mix two primary limb colors (Reddish Brown and Dark Bluish Gray).

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in large ranks on a tan or dark orange baseplate to simulate the Geonosis arena. Pairs well with Poggle the Lesser or Count Dooku minifigures.

Modification Potential

Excellent for MOCs. The parts are interchangeable with any other B1 battle droid color (Tan, Olive Green, Blue) to create custom specialized units.

Overall Assessment

A solid, essential figure for any LEGO Star Wars Separatist collector. While simple in design, the specific color-way makes it a distinct and necessary variant for military accuracy in the theme.
