Anakin Skywalker (Sith Apprentice, Chrome Lightsaber Hilt, 2005)

Figure ID

sw0139 / sw0120 variant

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2005 - Specifically appearing in 7251 Darth Vader Transformation during the peak of Episode III hype.

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While the set was affordable at retail, the combination of its age and the presence of the Sith-influenced 'yellow eye' facial expression makes it a collector target.

Head

Light Flesh color with high-detail printing for the era. Features Anakin's signature facial scar over the right eye and the yellow/red 'Sith eyes' expression on a single-sided head piece. Hair is Reddish Brown in the messy 'Episode III' style mold.

Torso

Black torso with Dark Brown arms and Black hands. The front print depicts Anakin's dark Jedi tunics with V-neck layering and a brown utility belt. The back is unprinted as was standard for many 2005 figures.

Legs

Plain Black legs with a black hip piece. No printing is present on the legs for this specific version.

Accessories

Originally accompanied by a Chrome Silver lightsaber hilt with a Trans-Red blade, representing his fall to the Dark Side (though the hilt is missing in the provided photo).

Color Scheme

A dark palette of Black and Dark Brown, accented by the Light Flesh of the head and the metallic pop of the original chrome hilt. This mirrors his transition into Darth Vader.

Printing Details

Pad-printed torso and head. The print is crisp but lacks the back and leg detailing of modern counterparts. The yellow iris printing on the eyes is the most significant detail.

Variants

Standard Anakin (sw0120) has normal eyes; sw0139 (this version) has Sith eyes. Later 2014 and 2020 versions feature much higher detail, back printing, and burnt variations.

Condition Notes

The chrome on the lightsaber hilt (if present) often flakes. Torso cracks (particularly on the sides) and loose arm joints are common. The hair piece is prone to tooth marks or scratches.

Estimated Value

New (in sealed set): $150+ | Used Complete: $20-$35 | Loose figure (no lightsaber): $15-$22 depending on print wear.

Price (New)

Released in set 7251 which retailed for $6.99 USD in 2005, making it a very high ROI figure for early collectors.

Compatible Sets

7251 Darth Vader Transformation (2005). Parts are often used in contemporary customs of 'Operation Knightfall' scenes.

Character Background

This figure represents Anakin Skywalker during his transformation into Darth Vader following his betrayal of the Jedi at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

Design Notes

This was one of the first Anakin figures to move away from the 'classic yellow' skin tone to 'flesh' tones following LEGO's 2004 branding shift for licensed themes.

Similar Minifigures

sw0120 (Standard Anakin), sw0106 (Jedi Anakin), and sw0183 (Clone Wars Anakin).

Collectibility

High. The 'Sith Eyes' variant is arguably the most iconic version of Anakin from the original Revenge of the Sith LEGO wave.

History

Launched during the 'fleshies' transition era of 2004-2005, this figure bridged the gap between classic simple prints and the hyper-detailed figures of the modern era.

Interesting Facts

The torso print in the 2005 sets was slightly misaligned in some production runs, making perfectly centered prints slightly more desirable to hardcore collectors.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside a 2005-era Emperor Palpatine and the 2005 Darth Vader to illustrate the iconic transformation scene.

Modification Potential

Excellent for 'Dark Anakin' MOCs. The head is arguably still one of the best 'angry/Sith' Anakin expressions ever produced.

Overall Assessment

A quintessential piece of LEGO Star Wars history. While it lacks modern leg/back printing, the Sith Eyes and the 2005 hair mold make it an essential collector's item.
