Jester (Kingdoms / Castle)

Figure ID

cas439

Theme

Castle

Year Released

2010. Released specifically in the set 7953 Jester as a small impulse-buy set.

Rarity

Uncommon. While the set was inexpensive, it was a small impulse set that was not on shelves as long as the large castles. It is highly sought after by medieval collectors for MOCs.

Head

Yellow skin with a wide, open-mouthed grin showing teeth and tongue. Features a two-point Jester's cap (mould 61506) in red and blue with pom-poms.

Torso

Red and blue harlequin pattern split vertically. The printing features jester bells/points along the neck line and a brown belt with a gold crown buckle. Yellow arms and hands.

Legs

Green legs with pattern. Note: The legs in the image are non-original; the official cas439 figure features plain red legs or patterned blue/red legs depending on the specific set assembly. The legs shown in the image appear to be from a Ninjago or Nexo Knights figure.

Accessories

Standard Brown Longbow (part 57022). In the original 7953 set, he also came with three 1x1 round tiles in red, blue, and yellow to represent juggling balls.

Color Scheme

Primary colors including Bright Red, Blue, and Yellow, with a miscellaneous Dark Green addition from the swapped legs. Traditional circus/medieval entertainer aesthetic.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the torso (front only) and head. The torso features clean lines between the red and blue split, which was quite advanced for 2010 impulse sets.

Variants

Several jester variants exist. There is a Series 12 CMF Jester (col187) and a classic 7090 Jester. This specific version is unique to the Kingdoms line and the 30062 polybag.

Condition Notes

Common wear points include the pom-poms on the hat which can suffer from paint rubbing, and the neck of the torso which may crack over time. This specific unit shows the legs are incorrect/swapped.

Estimated Value

The complete original figure (cas439) is worth approximately $7.00 - $12.00 USD. This specific item in the photo is worth less (approx $4.00) due to having the wrong legs.

Price (New)

$3.49 USD (Retail price of set 7953). The figure currently holds a value higher than its original total set retail price.

Compatible Sets

7953 Jester (2010), 30062 Target Practice Polybag (2011).

Character Background

A nameless court jester belonging to the 'Lion Knights' faction of the LEGO Kingdoms theme. He provides entertainment for the King and Queen within the castle walls.

Design Notes

The hat mould was a highlight of this era, introducing a softer, more rubberized plastic compared to standard ABS to prevent the points from snapping off.

Similar Minifigures

Jester (Series 12 Collectible Minifigures), Nexo Knights Jestro, Classic Castle Jester (7090).

Collectibility

High. Jester/Entertainer figures are perennial favorites for 'Castle' enthusiasts looking to populate tavern or throne room scenes.

History

Following the 'Fantasy Era' skeletons and orcs, Kingdoms returned to a more grounded medieval look. This jester represented that transition to a more 'Classic Castle' vibe.

Interesting Facts

The hat used for this figure is often the same mold used for Harley Quinn in the DC Super Heroes line, but in different color palettes.

Display Suggestions

Place him on a 2x4 tan plate surrounded by gold 'stud' coins or juggling his colored 1x1 plates. Best displayed near a King or Queen figure.

Modification Potential

Highly modular. The head and hat are frequently used by customizers to create medieval RPG characters like Bards or performers.

Overall Assessment

A charming and iconic figure from the 2010s era of Castle. This specific specimen is a 'Franken-figure' (mixed parts) due to the green legs, but the rare torso and hat remain valuable.
