Series 25 · 2024 (January)

Figure ID
col25-13
Theme
Collectible Minifigures
Year Released
2024 (January)
Rarity
Uncommon / Limited. While widely produced, this specific figure is highly 'army-built' and sought after, making it harder to find in the wild than others in the series.
Head
Dual-sided face printing: one side features a determined smirk with fangs, the other a more monstrous snarling expression with glowing red eyes. Standard yellow skin tone is replaced with a pale 'white-ish' flesh tone. It includes a black winged helmet mold.
Torso
Black torso with intricate dark red and silver plate armor printing. The central chest piece features a bat insignia. Arms are black with silver printing to represent gauntlets; hands are black.
Legs
Standard black legs with detailed printing on the front and hips. Features silver armor plates, red cloth detailing (tassets), and gold/yellow studs to match the Fright Knights aesthetic.
Accessories
Includes a large trans-red double-bladed axe on a black pole, a white kite shield with a classic bat emblem (reminiscent of the 1997 Basil the Bat Lord), a red cloth cape with a jagged bottom edge, and a standard black 3x4 display stand.
Color Scheme
A striking palette of black, dark red, and silver, accented by 'trans-red' plastic for the axe and a white/red contrast on the shield.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing typical of the CMF line. Features include 360-degree torso printing and leg printing that extends from the hips down to the shins. No arm printing on this specific model.
Variants
This is a modern 'spiritual successor' to Basil the Bat Lord from the 1990s Fright Knights. No official production variants of col25-13 exist yet.
Condition Notes
The cloth cape is the most fragile part and can fray if handled roughly. The trans-red axe piece is prone to scratches (scuffing) which can cloud the transparency.
Estimated Value
Current market value is approximately $5.00 - $8.00 USD for a complete figure. Prices may rise as Series 25 is retired and collectors seek to build 'Bat Lord' armies.
Price (New)
$4.99 USD (MSRP of a single 'mystery box' Series 25 pack).
Compatible Sets
71045 LEGO Minifigures Series 25 (Individual blind box/bag).
Character Background
This character is an homage to the Fright Knights theme of 1997. He is effectively a modernized, more menacing version of Basil the Bat Lord, combining classic fantasy tropes with modern LEGO detail.
Design Notes
Uses the newer 'winged helmet' mold. The shield is a direct callback to the classic LEGO Castle sub-theme, designed to pull on the nostalgia of adult fans (AFOLs).
Similar Minifigures
Basil the Bat Lord (cas065), Bat Knight (cas157), and various Vampire minifigures from the Monster Fighters or Studios themes.
Collectibility
High. Anything related to 'Classic Castle' or 'Fright Knights' nostalgia has high long-term investment potential and immediate demand for army building.
History
Released as part of the 25th numbered wave of the Collectible Minifigure line, representing LEGO's return to traditional fantasy archetypes within the CMF format.
Interesting Facts
The axe piece is a reuse of the weapon mold from the Minecraft line but rendered in a new translucent color for this character. The shield design is nearly identical to the 1997 original but with updated printing resolution.
Display Suggestions
Looks best placed on a gray stone castle rampart. Pairs perfectly with the 10305 Lion Knights' Castle or as a leader for a group of Fright Knight soldiers.
Modification Potential
Excellent. Many collectors swap the head for a more human one to make him a 'living' knight, or use the red transparent pieces for elemental-themed warriors.
Overall Assessment
A standout figure of 2024. It successfully bridges the gap between 90s nostalgia and modern design. Highly recommended for any LEGO Castle or CMF enthusiast.
