Year Released

2015. It debuted as part of a specialized Halloween-themed wave of mystery bags, marking a shift where LEGO began dedicating entire CMF series to specific genres.

Rarity

Uncommon. While widely available in blind bags at launch, as a retired Series 14 figure, it is now exclusively available through the secondary market. It was one of the more popular pulls from that series.

Head

Features a unique, oversized molded fly head in black. It includes large, translucent-red compound eyes with a honeycomb texture and a protruding proboscis. Underneath the mask is a standard yellow minifigure head with a frantic, sweating expression (single-sided).

Torso

Black torso with a detailed gray/silver exoskeleton thorax print on the front. The back is partially covered by a specialized neck-bracket wing element. Arms are black, with the left hand replaced by a unique red 'claw' or 'pincer' piece.

Legs

Standard black legs with printed gray exoskeleton banding on the hips and upper thighs, continuing the insectoid aesthetic.

Accessories

Includes two significant pieces: a large, translucent-clear wing element that attaches via a neck bracket, and a specialized red pincer hand. It originally came with a 4x3 black display stand.

Color Scheme

A dark, monochromatic black and gray palette accented heavily by translucent red (eyes) and solid red (claw).

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the torso and hips. The printing is crisp and silver-toned to differentiate the fly's 'skin' from the black plastic of the torso.

Variants

There are no official production variants, though the head and claw have been used for custom 'The Fly' (1958/1986 movie) inspired builds by the fan community.

Condition Notes

The translucent red eyes are prone to micro-scratches if stored in bulk. The wing piece is made of a softer plastic that can warp or show stress marks near the neck attachment. Check for the specific red claw hand, as it is often lost and replaced with a standard black hand.

Estimated Value

New (Sealed Bag): $15-$22 USD; Used (Complete): $10-$14 USD; Incomplete: $5-$7 USD.

Price (New)

Originally $3.99 USD per blind bag at retail in 2015.

Compatible Sets

Specifically from 71010 Collectible Minifigures Series 14 (Monsters).

Character Background

Inspired by 'The Fly' horror films, this character represents a scientist whose DNA was accidentally mixed with a housefly. It is part of the LEGO CMF internal lore of 'monsters' living in a specialized neighborhood.

Design Notes

The fly head is a standout dual-molded/printed piece that captures the creepy aesthetic of B-movie horror. The translucent wings were a relatively new mold at the time of release.

Similar Minifigures

Spider Lady (Series 14), Bumblebee Girl (Series 10), Butterfly Girl (Series 23), and the Mothman-style figures from Hidden Side.

Collectibility

High. The 'Monsters' series (Series 14) is a fan-favorite, and the Fly Monster is a key 'creature' figure for builders of spooky dioramas or haunted houses.

History

Launched in September 2015, this figure was part of LEGO's first fully 'thematic' CMF wave. It remains one of the most anatomically unique insectoid figures LEGO has produced.

Interesting Facts

The red claw is a reference to the mutation stages of cinematic fly-monsters. It is one of the few CMFs that completely obscures the human face with a full-head molded mask.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in a laboratory setting (MOC) or with other Series 14 figures like the Mad Scientist. Use backlighting to make the translucent red eyes 'glow'.

Modification Potential

Excellent for sci-fi horror MOCs. The head piece is frequently used for custom Mothman or alien species figures.

Overall Assessment

A standout figure from the 2010s era of CMFs. The combination of the unique head mold and the translucent wings makes it a high-quality addition to any collection. Recommendation: Buy for any horror or sci-fi enthusiast.
