Year Released
Released in January 2024. This figure debuted during a transition period where LEGO started using QR-style data matrix codes on boxes to help collectors identify figures without opening them.
Rarity
Uncommon. While part of a mass-produced blind box series, it is one of the most highly sought-after figures in the set, leading it to sell out faster than others on retail shelves.
Head
Dual-sided printing on a Light Nougat base. One side features a menacing grin with fangs and red eyes; the other features a 'bat-like' transformed expression with glowing eyes and heavy shading. No hair piece is included as it uses a large helmet.
Torso
Dark Red and Black with intricate silver 'Gothic' plate armor printing. The print includes a stylized bat emblem on the chest and highly detailed leather strapping/chainmail on the back and arms.
Legs
Dark Red with Black hips. Features extensive printing on the front and sides representing armored greaves and metallic knee pads, maintaining the Gothic aesthetic.
Accessories
Includes a large Black broadsword (claymore style), a large Red and Black shield with a bat logo, an ornate Black 'Bat' helmet with wing-like structures, and a specialized fabric cape with a red-on-black color scheme.
Color Scheme
Primary colors are Dark Red and Black. Accent colors include Metallic Silver for the armor and blood-red for the cape and shield details.
Printing Details
High-fidelity pad printing. Features 'wraparound' printing on the legs and highly detailed arm printing, which is typically reserved for premium CMF figures or high-end sets.
Variants
There are no official production variants for the Series 25 version, though it serves as a modern spiritual successor to the 'Basil the Bat Lord' figure from the 1990s Fright Knights theme.
Condition Notes
The large fabric cape is prone to fraying at the edges if handled frequently. The silver printing on the torso can be scratched by the edges of the shield if not posed carefully.
Estimated Value
New (sealed in box identified by code): $8 - $12 USD. Personal/Unboxed: $6 - $10 USD. As a popular army-builder, its value is expected to rise once the series is retired.
Price (New)
Original MSRP of $4.99 USD per blind box. The figure is found in set 71045.
Compatible Sets
71045 LEGO Minifigures Series 25 (2024). Recommended to display with 10305 Lion Knights' Castle for a classic fantasy battle.
Character Background
This character is a tribute to the Fright Knights sub-theme of the 1990s. He is intended to be a modern reimagining of Basil the Bat Lord, acting as a supernatural antagonist in the LEGO Castle universe.
Design Notes
The helmet is a brand-new mold specifically designed for this series to mimic the classic Bat Lord helmet but with modern proportions and plastic quality.
Similar Minifigures
Basil the Bat Lord (cas015), Series 19 Fright Knight (col346), Series 8 Vampire Bat (col118).
Collectibility
High. Anything related to the 'Classic Castle' or 'Fright Knights' nostalgia has a very strong secondary market performance and high collector demand.
History
Represents the evolution of LEGO's fantasy-horror minifigures from the simplistic prints of 1997 to the high-detail, dual-molded pieces of the 2020s.
Interesting Facts
The data matrix code on the bottom of the box (seen in the image) can be scanned by third-party apps to confirm the figure is the Vampire Knight without opening the packaging.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed on a dark grey or black stone-textured baseplate. Looks excellent when placed alongside other undead or Gothic-themed minifigures in a medieval setting.
Modification Potential
The armor and shield are perfect for custom 'Dark Knight' or 'Sith' builds. The head is commonly swapped with classic Basil the Bat Lord heads for a 'retro-modern' custom.
Overall Assessment
The standout figure of Series 25. It offers incredible value for its retail price due to the high number of accessories and 360-degree printing. A must-have for Castle fans.
