Theme
Collectible Minifigures
Year Released
January 1, 2024. Released as part of the 25th numbered CMF series during a resurgence of interest in classic LEGO Castle tropes.
Rarity
Uncommon. While part of a retail series, the shifting from blind bags to cardboard boxes made this figure difficult to identify and highly sought after by army builders and Castle enthusiasts.
Head
Dual-sided printing on a flesh-toned head. One side features a menacing grin with fangs, and the other features a determined battle expression. Glowing red eyes are common to both sides.
Torso
Highly detailed silver and gold knight's breastplate over black and red garments. Includes back printing of the armor plates. Black arms with red hands to simulate gloves.
Legs
Standard black legs with extensive silver and red printing. Includes ornate greaves and chainmail detailing, with continuing red fabric motifs from the torso.
Accessories
A large black shield with a prominent bat emblem (historically accurate to the 1990s Fright Knights emblem), a long silver broadsword, and a unique large tattered red cape.
Color Scheme
Dominant colors are Black, Red, Silver, and Gold. The scheme is designed to evoke a dark, gothic, 'Fright Knights' aesthetic with modern printing standards.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the head, torso (front and back), and legs (front). The detail is crisp, showcasing intricate chainmail patterns and shadows on the armor plating.
Variants
None known of this specific version. It is a modernized spiritual successor to the 1997 Basil the Bat Lord minifigure.
Condition Notes
The tattered fabric cape is the most fragile element and can be prone to frayed edges or creases. Check for 'neck cracking' on the torso if the figure has been played with heavily.
Estimated Value
Used: $8.00 - $12.00; New (sealed box identified by code): $12.00 - $18.00. Value has remained strong due to army-building demand.
Price (New)
$4.99 USD per individual blind box at retail.
Compatible Sets
LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 25 (Set 71045). Often displayed with 10305 Lion Knights' Castle.
Character Background
A modern reimagining of Basil the Bat Lord, leader of the Fright Knights faction from 1997. He represents a supernatural, vampiric warlord for the modern LEGO Castle hierarchy.
Design Notes
Uses the original Fright Knights bat sigil. The mold for the helmet is the traditional knight's visor helmet but in a sleek metallic finish. The tattered cape is a standout feature specifically designed for this series.
Similar Minifigures
Basil the Bat Lord (1997), Fright Knight (1997), Classic Castle Vampire (Monster Fighters), and the Series 12 Wizard.
Collectibility
High. Fantasy-themed CMFs, especially those referencing classic 90s factions, tend to appreciate in value quickly as Castle collectors buy them in bulk for dioramas.
History
This figure marks the first official return of the 'Bat' heraldry since the late 90s, bridging the gap between classic 'system' designs and modern 'adult collector' aesthetics.
Interesting Facts
The QR-style data matrix code on the bottom of the box (pictured: 6623274 / 714R6) allows collectors to use scanner apps to determine the figure inside without opening the box, a response to fan backlash over blind packaging.
Display Suggestions
Place in a gothic castle setting or on a dedicated CMF display stand with red lighting to accentuate the glow-in-the-dark red eyes.
Modification Potential
Excellent for 'purist' MOCs; the torso and legs are versatile for any dark fantasy knight or black-colored army unit.
Overall Assessment
Rating: 9/10. One of the strongest entries in Series 25. The nostalgic value combined with superior modern printing and specialized accessories makes it a 'must-buy' for fantasy enthusiasts.
