Anakin Skywalker (Damaged / Darth Vader / Sith Face)

Figure ID

sw0180

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2007 (Released in the original UCS Death Star set 10188 and 7251 Darth Vader Transformation)

Rarity

Uncommon. While the sets it appeared in were popular, this specific head and torso combination was localized to early Episode III sets and the long-lived 10188 UCS set.

Head

Light Flesh, dual-sided printing featuring a battle-damaged Anakin Skywalker. One side shows orange Sith eyes and red facial scarring/burns from the Mustafar duel. The image shows the scarred Sith side.

Torso

Black Jedi robes with Dark Brown under-tunic and a Dark Bluish Gray belt. Simple but effective printing representing his Episode III outfit. This figure in the image is missing the right hand (should be black to represent his mechanical glove).

Legs

Plain Black legs with a black hip piece. No printing is present on the legs or sides.

Accessories

Missing in image. Originally would include a Chrome Silver lightsaber hilt with a Light Royal Blue blade. Some sets included a black helmet/breathing apparatus to transition him into Darth Vader.

Color Scheme

Primary Black with Light Flesh skin. Accents of reddish-brown and dark gray on the torso printing and dark red for the facial scars.

Printing Details

Standard mid-2000s pad printing. Head features detailed scarring and the iconic 'Sith eyes.' The torso print is crisp but lacks the high-definition texture or metallic highlights seen in modern 2020-era figures.

Variants

This specific 2007-2008 version (sw0180) is the most recognized. Later versions (sw1229) feature significantly more detailed torso printing and updated face art. There is also a light-up saber version from 2005.

Condition Notes

The figure in the image is missing its hair/helmet and the right hand. The light-colored hand on the left appears to be a replacement or mismatched, as Anakin usually had one black (gloved) and one flesh hand. Checking for neck cracks and torso side cracks is vital for this era.

Estimated Value

Current market value for a complete sw0180 is approximately $15.00 - $22.00 USD used. In its current incomplete/damaged state (missing hand and hair), it is valued at approximately $5.00 - $8.00 USD.

Price (New)

N/A individually; primarily found in Set 10188 ($399.99) and Set 7251 ($6.99). The low entry price of Set 7251 kept this figure's value from reaching 'grail' status.

Compatible Sets

7251 Darth Vader Transformation (2005), 10188 Death Star (2008), 852701 Magnets (2009).

Character Background

Depicts Anakin Skywalker at his lowest point on Mustafar after falling to the Dark Side and being defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi. This represents the transition into the armored Darth Vader.

Design Notes

One of the first 'gritty' Star Wars figures. The inclusion of red scars was a significant step for LEGO, which previously avoided 'injury' printing on minifigures.

Similar Minifigures

sw0139 (Anakin Sith Face from 7251), sw1229 (2023 updated Anakin/Vader Transformation), sw1065 (Darth Vader - Tan Head).

Collectibility

Moderate. It is a staple for any collector focusing on the Prequel Trilogy or the evolution of the Darth Vader character.

History

First introduced in 2005 with yellow eyes, this 2007/2008 version updated the skin tone to light flesh to match the new licensing standards for Star Wars.

Interesting Facts

The same head piece was used to represent the unmasked Darth Vader inside the original UCS Death Star set's meditation chamber.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on a 'lava' baseplate (trans-orange plates) to mimic the Mustafar environment. Pairs perfectly with the Obi-Wan Kenobi (sw0197) figure.

Modification Potential

Excellent for custom Mustafar MOCs. The torso is a 'purist' favorite for creating custom Dark Jedi or Sith characters.

Overall Assessment

A classic 'transitional' figure. While the specific example in the image is in 'poor/incomplete' condition, a complete sw0180 remains an iconic piece of LEGO Star Wars history.
