Boba Fett - White Armor (Prototype)

Figure ID

sw0275

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2010. Released to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

Rarity

Rare/Promotional. It was a limited-release polybag (2853835) given away at LEGO stores, select retailers, and promotional events in 2010.

Head

Standard 2010-era black 'head-placeholder' block used for helmeted figures of that time. No unique face printing; the helmet provides the character's identity.

Torso

White torso with gray/silver armor plate printing. Features the iconic Mandalorian chest plate design, symbols on the chest, and 'jetpack' strap details. White arms and white hands.

Legs

Plain white legs and hips. No printing on the legs, matching the 'prototype' aesthetic of the character.

Accessories

Includes a white Mandalorian helmet with silver and black T-visor printing and a white rangefinder/antenna piece. Often comes with a white jetpack and a black blaster, though sometimes sold without the cape found on other Fetts.

Color Scheme

Monochromatic: predominantly white with light gray, dark gray, and black printing accents. Intended to mimic the original 1978 all-white test suit designed by Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the helmet and torso front. The silver metallic ink used for the armor plates is reasonably durable but can wear over time. No leg or arm printing.

Variants

This is the 'White Costume' version. Other versions of Boba Fett include the Classic (sw0002), Cloud City (sw0107), and various modern 'flesh-tone' head variants. This specific design was refreshed in 2015 as sw0631.

Condition Notes

Prone to yellowing if exposed to UV light. The rangefinder is a small, easy-to-lose part. Check for stress marks on the torso sides (cracks) and ensuring the helmet print is centered.

Estimated Value

New/Sealed Polybag: $150 - $220. Used Complete: $80 - $120. Prices fluctuate based on the white plastic's brightness and helmet print crispness.

Price (New)

Originally a Gift With Purchase (GWP) or promotional item for roughly $4.99 USD if sold at retail outlets like Toys 'R' Us.

Compatible Sets

2853835 White Boba Fett Polybag (2010).

Character Background

Based on the original concept art and screen tests for Boba Fett. Before he was a 'bounty hunter', the character was envisioned as a 'Super Trooper' in all-white tactical armor.

Design Notes

A 'pre-production' tribute. It uses the modern (at the time) Fett helmet mold but applies the minimalist concept colors. The Lack of weathering on the print is intentional.

Similar Minifigures

sw0631 (2015 version with different torso/legs), sw0002 (Classic Fett), and the more recent 'The Book of Boba Fett' variants.

Collectibility

High. It is a 'holy grail' for Star Wars completionists due to its unique monochromatic look and the story behind the prototype armor.

History

First introduced in 2010 to celebrate the ESB 30th anniversary. It marked a trend of LEGO releasing 'concept' versions of famous characters for collectors.

Interesting Facts

The character in the 1978 screen test accidentally tripped over a prop while wearing this armor, which is a famous piece of Star Wars trivia that adds to the 'legend' of the white suit.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in a UV-protected case to prevent yellowing. Looks excellent next to a standard green Boba Fett for visual contrast.

Modification Potential

Commonly used for 'purist' custom clones or stormtrooper officers due to the white Mandalorian helmet piece.

Overall Assessment

A top-tier collector's item. It balances historical film significance with 'limited edition' LEGO status. A must-have for Star Wars fans, though buyers should beware of fakes/reissues.
