Year Released

2013 (January release). This was part of the ninth wave of the blind-bag series which popularized unique, non-licensed character designs.

Rarity

Uncommon. As a blind-bag figure from 2013, it is no longer in production, making it harder to find than modern retail figures, though it was mass-produced at release.

Head

Yellow classic skin tone with a gentle smile, red lipstick, and eyelashes. The hair is a long, wavy blonde piece with a slight texture, specifically molded to fit over the shoulders.

Torso

Yellow torso with skin-toned printing on the chest and a light blue seashell bikini top with a white tied string at the neck. Back printing is minimal or non-existent for this specific era's CMF female figures.

Legs

Medium Azure mermaid tail piece (curved) with printed white/silver stars and scale patterns. This is a specialized lower-body mold rather than standard legs or a brick-built tail.

Accessories

Originally packaged with a dark pink/magenta starfish (not pictured) and a silver trident (not pictured). The hair piece is considered part of the figure assembly.

Color Scheme

Primary colors are Bright Yellow (skin), Medium Azure (tail), and Cool Yellow (hair). The seashell top utilizes White and Light Flesh tones.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the face, torso, and the front of the tail mold. The scale/star pattern on the tail is particularly fine-lined for a 2013 figure.

Variants

There are several LEGO mermaids (Pirates, Harry Potter, Series 21), but this specific Series 9 version is distinguished by her medium azure tail and blonde hair.

Condition Notes

The tail piece is prone to scratching on the bottom 'fin' area. The blonde hair piece can pick up dirt/scuffs easily in its deep grooves. Check for cracks in the yellow torso sides.

Estimated Value

Used: $5.00 - $8.00 USD. New (Sealed in bag): $12.00 - $18.00 USD. Value is stable but doesn't experience high volatility.

Price (New)

$2.99 USD (original retail price per blind bag in 2013).

Compatible Sets

Appeared only as a stand-alone figure in set 71000: LEGO Minifigures Series 9.

Character Background

A generic fantasy mermaid inspired by classic seafaring folklore. Unlike the Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean versions, this one is designed to be friendly and whimsical.

Design Notes

This figure uses the curved 'mermaid tail' mold which was a significant improvement over the older, blockier tail designs used in some early LEGO themes.

Similar Minifigures

Series 21 Dulcet Mermaid (col380), Harry Potter Mermaid (hp054), Pirates of the Caribbean Syrena (poc015).

Collectibility

High for 'completionist' CMF collectors. It is a staple of any underwater MOC or display and remains popular due to its classic 'Ariel-adjacent' color palette.

History

Follows a long lineage of LEGO mermaids dating back to the late 1990s, but represents the modern era of high-detail printing and specialized molds.

Interesting Facts

The starfish accessory that usually comes with this figure is the 'classic' 5-point mold which has been a LEGO staple for decades.

Display Suggestions

Display in an underwater-themed vignette using transparent blue blocks or atop a 2x2 jumper plate inside a glass dome or CMF display case.

Modification Potential

Excellent for 'purist' customs; the tail can be swapped onto any female torso to create custom sea-folk. The hair is also highly sought after for civilian minifigures.

Overall Assessment

A charming and iconic entry in the CMF lineup. While not the most expensive figure, it is a high-quality representation of the fantasy sub-genre with great aesthetic appeal. Rating: 7/10.
