Clone Pilot (Phase 1) - Sand Blue Arms, Imperial Crests on Helmet

Figure ID

sw0609

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2015 - Released in the ARC-170 Starfighter Microfighter (75072) during the transition to the Rebels era styling.

Rarity

Uncommon. While only ever appearing in one set, that set was a low-cost Microfighter. However, as it is a specific variant of a Phase 1 pilot, it has become more sought after by army builders.

Head

Standard 'Clone Trooper' head with 'fleshy' tone, featuring stern expression and large black eyes typical of the 2014-2018 era. The helmet is the Phase 1 mold with unique yellow/gold markings and two Imperial/Galactic Republic crests.

Torso

White with updated Phase 1 armor printing including a life-support pack. Arms are sand blue, and hands are black. Back printing features continuation of armor plating and thermal detonator.

Legs

Plain white legs with a black hip piece. No printing on the legs or feet.

Accessories

Commonly packaged with a small black blaster pistol (not pictured). The helmet is the primary specialized accessory.

Color Scheme

White, light bluish gray, sand blue, and black, with gold-yellow accents on the helmet crest.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the helmet and torso. The helmet print is particularly complex due to the curved surface and fine lines of the crests. No leg printing is present.

Variants

This is a specific variant differing from the 2010 version (sw0266) which had a different helmet print, and the 2013 version (sw0491). This sw0609 version is distinguished by its sand blue arms.

Condition Notes

Inspect for 'helmet chin' wear where the helmet meets the torso. Check for cracks on the torso sides under the sand blue arms. The white plastic is prone to yellowing if exposed to sunlight.

Estimated Value

Used: $7.00 - $12.00 USD; New: $15.00 - $18.00 USD. Prices fluctuate based on the demand for Republic-era army building.

Price (New)

Included in set 75072 which retailed for $9.99 USD in 2015.

Compatible Sets

75072 ARC-170 Starfighter Microfighter.

Character Background

A Galactic Republic pilot trained to fly various craft including the ARC-170 and V-19 Torrent. This Phase 1 armor represents the early Clone Wars aesthetic.

Design Notes

This figure uses the 'animated' style eyes for the head underneath, reflecting the influence of the Rebels/Clone Wars TV show aesthetic on LEGO design at the time.

Similar Minifigures

sw0191 (Original 2008 Clone Pilot), sw0491 (Clone Pilot with yellow markings), and sw1191 (Phase 2 Clone Pilot).

Collectibility

Medium-High. Collectors of Clone Wars era figures often seek out all pilot variants. It is a more affordable alternative to the rarer Phase 2 pilots.

History

Follows the evolution of LEGO Clone Troopers from the 2002 'classic' style to the 2014 'modern' hyper-detailed era. This figure represents the peak of the Phase 1 pilot design.

Interesting Facts

Despite being a Republic pilot, the crests on the helmet are often associated by fans with the later Imperial Cog, representing the transition of the Republic into the Empire.

Display Suggestions

Ideal for placement in a cockpit of an ARC-170 or V-wing MOC, or staged on a Republic hangar bay baseplate with other Phase 1 troopers.

Modification Potential

The sand blue arms are relatively rare and are frequently harvested by customizers for use in MOCs or to improve other tactical minifigures.

Overall Assessment

A solid, detailed pilot variant with an excellent helmet print. While the plain legs are a minor drawback, the sand blue arms make it a visual standout in a collection. Rating: 7.5/10.
