Collectible Minifigures

Year Released

2011 (January). Part of the third wave of LEGO's blind-bag experiment that revolutionized minifigure collecting.

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While mass-produced in the CMF series, finding them in pristine condition is difficult as they were released over a decade ago.

Head

The head features a distinctive 'wrapped' texture print in light bluish gray and tan accents. Its defining feature is the glowing red eyes peering through the bandages. It is single-sided.

Torso

Highly detailed bandage wrapping pattern on the front and back. The torso is white with black and tan printing to signify shadow and age. Arms are white with no printing; hands are white.

Legs

Standard white legs with bandage printing continuing down from the torso onto the front of the hips and legs. No side or back leg printing.

Accessories

Originally packaged with a dark tan cloth 'ancient scroll' (printed 2x2 tile) and a golden scorpion. The scorpion is a common element, but the scroll was specific to this character's story.

Color Scheme

Primary white with secondary accents of light bluish gray, black, and tan. The eyes provide a pop of translucent red-look printing.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing for its era. The bandages are intentionally slightly misaligned in design to look like messy wrappings, which is a great attention to detail.

Variants

There are several other mummies in LEGO history (e.g., Pharaoh’s Quest, Monster Fighters, Scooby-Doo), but this CMF version is distinct for its specific 'Series 3' head print and lack of headgear pieces.

Condition Notes

Prone to 'yellowing' if exposed to UV, as it is primarily white plastic. Check for hairline cracks in the torso sides and fading of the red eye print due to play wear.

Estimated Value

Used: $5 - $8 USD; New (Sealed in bag): $15 - $22 USD. Values fluctuates based on the inclusion of the unique scroll accessory.

Price (New)

Original MSRP was $2.99 USD per blind bag in 2011.

Compatible Sets

Appeared only in 8803 Collectible Minifigures Series 3.

Character Background

According to LEGO lore, this Mummy is a bit clumsy and forgets where he was supposed to be scaring people. He likes to carry his 'ancient instructions' (the scroll) so he doesn't get lost in the pyramid.

Design Notes

This figure helped transition LEGO from simple 'Classic' mummies (1990s) to the highly detailed characters seen in today’s themes. It lacks a separate headgear piece, using a printed head to represent the wraps instead.

Similar Minifigures

Pharaoh's Quest Mummy (pha001), Monster Fighters Mummy (mof001), Series 19 Mummy Queen (col348).

Collectibility

High. Series 3 is considered a 'vintage' CMF series now, and completionists for the early series highly prize this figure. It is an essential for Halloween-themed displays.

History

Follows the tradition of the 1998 Desert Adventurers mummies but with massively upgraded printing technology afforded by the CMF line's higher budget per figure.

Interesting Facts

This was one of the first mummies to feature red eyes; previous versions had hollow black eyes or standard 'evil' minifigure faces.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in a 16-slot CMF frame or in an Ancient Egyptian/Adventure desert diorama alongside the Series 2 Pharaoh.

Modification Potential

Excellent for MOCs (My Own Creations) regarding horror or archaeology scenes. The head is a popular choice for custom 'undead' or 'wounded' soldier builds.

Overall Assessment

A solid 8/10. It is a classic example of LEGO's early 2010's design philosophy—simple, effective, and full of character. It remains one of the most recognizable figures from the Series 3 lineup.
