Year Released

2014 - Released as part of the Episode III Utapau wave, characterizing a shift toward high-detail movie accuracy in the modern LEGO Star Wars era.

Rarity

Uncommon - Exclusive to a single mid-range set (75040) that has been retired for several years, making it harder to find in mint condition.

Head

Light Flesh, dual-sided printing featuring a determined expression and a worried/grimacing expression. Includes a reddish-brown hair piece (part 15502) and detailed ginger-brown beard printing.

Torso

Dark Tan torso with Dark Brown straps and Tan flight suit detailing. Features front and back printing representing the Jedi pilot/scout robes worn during the Battle of Utapau. Arms and hands are Dark Tan.

Legs

Dark Tan legs with Dark Brown and Tan line printing to represent the continuation of the robes, utility belt, and boots.

Accessories

Missing in image. Originally included a blue lightsaber (trans-light blue blade with metallic silver hilt) and an electrostaff (for use against General Grievous).

Color Scheme

A monochromatic palette of Dark Tan, Tan, and Dark Brown, designed to mimic the desert/rocky environment of Utapau and Obi-Wan's weathered Jedi tunic.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing with excellent alignment. Notable for the wrap-around style belt printing and the intricate lines on the legs which were a major step up from the 'classic' Obi-Wan figures.

Variants

This specific 2014 version differs from the 2005 original (sw0133) by having light flesh skin tones and highly detailed printing. It differs from the 2016-2019 versions which often featured different torso prints for different planets.

Condition Notes

Prone to cracking on the sides of the torso (under the arms) and heel cracks on the legs. The 'Dark Tan' color can sometimes show stress marks more clearly than lighter colors.

Estimated Value

Used: $15 - $22; New (Minifigure only): $25 - $35. Value has remained steady but is rising as Episode III sets increase in collector demand.

Price (New)

Original set 75040 General Grievous' Wheel Bike retailed for $24.99 USD in 2014.

Compatible Sets

75040 General Grievous' Wheel Bike (2014).

Character Background

Based on Obi-Wan Kenobi's appearance in Revenge of the Sith during his pursuit of General Grievous on the sinkhole planet of Utapau, shortly before the activation of Order 66.

Design Notes

This version was praised upon release for the 'scout robe' variant printing, which provides a more tactical and weathered look compared to his standard Jedi Temple robes.

Similar Minifigures

sw0495 Obi-Wan (Black Protocol Droid head/hair), sw0812 Obi-Wan (Jedi Starfighter), and sw0609 Luke Skywalker (Tatooine - similar color palette).

Collectibility

High demand for Episode III collectors. It is considered the definitive 'Battle of Utapau' version of Kenobi for many purist MOC builders.

History

Follows the evolution from the 1999 yellow-skin era to the mid-2000s light flesh era, representing the peak of 'non-armored' Jedi textile printing used in the early 2010s.

Interesting Facts

The leg printing used on this figure was quite advanced for a standard play-scale set in 2014, helping it stay relevant even against modern 2024 versions.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on a tan baseplate alongside an 212th Battalion Clone Trooper or fighting the 2014 General Grievous (sw0515) found in the same set.

Modification Potential

The head and hair are frequently used for custom 'Old Man Obi-Wan' or 'Endor Han Solo' builds due to the generic but high-quality facial features.

Overall Assessment

A solid, highly-accurate representation of the character from a pivotal movie scene. Essential for Episode III collectors; quality 8/10, value retention 7/10.
