Porg

Figure ID

sw0863

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2017 - Debuted in Set 75192 Millennium Falcon (UCS) and 75189 First Order Heavy Assault Walker.

Rarity

Common to Uncommon. While it appeared in several sets, its status as a 'creature' minifigure rather than a traditional figure makes collectors seek multiples.

Head

Light Bluish Gray with a printed face: large black eyes with white pupils, a sad/drooping mouth, white facial fur, and orange patches on the sides/top.

Torso

The figure does not use a standard torso; it consists of a 1x1 round brick with printing for the Porg's chest/wings.

Legs

The figure does not use standard legs; it features a 1x1-1x1 bracket or plate element in light bluish gray to represent the base.

Accessories

None included by default, though it is often scaled with Millennium Falcon interior details.

Color Scheme

Light Bluish Gray, White, Orange, and Black.

Printing Details

Highly detailed 360-degree printing on a 1x1 round element. The orange 'feather' accents and distressed facial expression are characteristic of late-2010s LEGO pad printing.

Variants

There is a standard version (sw0863) and an 'Open Mouth' version (sw0922) released in 2018. This image shows the standard closed-mouth version.

Condition Notes

Watch for scratches on the curved printing of the 1x1 round brick. Because it is a small, specialized assembly, the head piece is easily lost.

Estimated Value

Used: $2.00 - $4.00 USD; New: $5.00 - $7.00 USD. Prices are stable due to high supply.

Price (New)

N/A (Included in sets ranging from $14.99 polybags to the $799.99 UCS Falcon).

Compatible Sets

75192 UCS Millennium Falcon, 75189 First Order Heavy Assault Walker, 75200 Ahch-To Island Training, 75245 Star Wars Advent Calendar 2019.

Character Background

Native to the island of Ahch-To, Porgs are sea-dwelling birds that befriended Chewbacca and resided on the Millennium Falcon during the sequel trilogy.

Design Notes

A clever brick-built solution to represent a creature too small for a standard minifigure scale but too large for a single molded piece. Uses a 1x1 round brick and a modified 1x1 tile/head.

Similar Minifigures

Porg (Open Mouth - sw0922), various brick-built droids like D-O or BD-1 (micro-scale).

Collectibility

Moderate. Popular among Sequel Trilogy fans and those building 'Falcon' dioramas. Often bought in 'armies'.

History

Introduced in 2017 to coincide with the release of 'The Last Jedi'. It marked LEGO's shift toward more detailed 'micro-build' characters using printed 1x1 elements.

Interesting Facts

In the real world, Porgs were created for the movie to digitally cover up puffins that were nesting on the filming location of Skellig Michael.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on the ramp of a Millennium Falcon or perched on top of Chewbacca's shoulder in a scene recreation.

Modification Potential

High for micro-scale MOCs. The printed head part is often used by fans to create custom birds or aliens.

Overall Assessment

A charming and essential 'flavor' figure for Star Wars collectors. Cheap, accurate to the source material, and iconic of its era.
