Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While the set is currently in production, Malak is an exclusive anniversary figure that is highly sought after by Old Republic fans and is only available in one mid-range priced set.

Head

White head with unique dark grey and red facial tattoos/markings. It features a specialized metallic silver neck-brace piece representing his prosthetic jaw, which is removable but distinctive to this character.

Torso

Dark Red base with intricate black and dark orange printing depicting his Sith robes. Includes back printing. Arms are dark red with white hands to represent his skin/gloves.

Legs

Dark Red with black printing that continues the design of the Sith robes down the front of the legs.

Accessories

A standard metallic silver lightsaber hilt with a trans-red blade. Includes a black fabric cape and a specialized 25th Anniversary printed display stand featuring R2-D2 and the '25 Years of LEGO Star Wars' logo.

Color Scheme

A striking contrast of Dark Red and Black, with a White head and Metallic Silver accents on the jaw piece and lightsaber.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing with excellent alignment. Significant detail on the facial tattoos and the layered look of the torso armor/robes. Printing is limited to the front of the legs and front/back of the torso.

Variants

There are no official LEGO variants of Darth Malak, as this is his first appearance in LEGO history.

Condition Notes

The metallic silver jaw piece is a unique mold; check for scratches on the silver finish. The dark red plastic is sturdy, but the black cape should be checked for fraying at the neck hole.

Character Background

The primary antagonist of the 2003 video game 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic'. Formerly the apprentice to Darth Revan, Malak became the Dark Lord of the Sith after betraying his master. His jaw was severed by a lightsaber strike from Revan, requiring the metal prosthetic seen on the figure.

Design Notes

The inclusion of the neck-brace piece as a separate mold rather than head printing is a major design highlight, allowing for a more accurate 3D representation of the character's unique silhouette.

Similar Minifigures

Darth Revan (polybag 5002123), Darth Nihilus, and Darth Malgus (sw0413). These are all 'Old Republic' era Sith Lords.

Collectibility

Very High. Collectors of Star Wars 'Legends' content and anniversary-exclusive figures have made this a high-priority 'must-have' minifigure.

History

This marks Malak's first-ever official LEGO minifigure appearance after over 20 years of fan requests. It celebrates the 25-year milestone of the LEGO Star Wars license.

Interesting Facts

Despite being an Old Republic character, he was included in an R2-D2 set as part of a series of 'random' anniversary guest appearances across various 2024 sets.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on his included 25th Anniversary stand. Pair him with the rare Darth Revan polybag figure for a 'Master and Apprentice' display.

Modification Potential

The head and jaw piece are excellent for custom Sith MOCs. Some collectors replace the standard cape with a higher-quality wired custom cape for more dynamic posing.

Overall Assessment

A 10/10 figure for fans of the source material. The unique jaw mold and high-fidelity printing make it one of the standout minifigures of the 2024 release year.
