Acidicus
njo061 · Ninjago
Rise of the Snakes · 2012 (First Appearance)

Figure ID
njo061
Theme
Ninjago
Year Released
2012 (First Appearance)
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While Acidicus appeared in two sets, he remains the rarest of the Venomari tribe members because both sets (9450 and 9444) were higher-priced points at the time.
Head
Unique Venomari serpent mold in Lime Green with dark green and black scale details, pale yellow eyes, and prominent fangs. It is an over-the-neck molded head-and-shoulders piece rather than a standard minifigure head.
Torso
Green with dark green arms and hands. Printing features a gold and black sash/tunic design with Venomari tribal sigils on the chest. Back printing continues the sash and scale patterns.
Legs
Green legs with printing that continues the gold-lined tunic/robe design down to the knees, featuring scale patterns and dark grey foot highlights.
Accessories
Includes a tattered dark green cloth cape. In official sets, he usually carries a Venomari staff with a green snake-head blade and a small lime green trans-neon vial of 'venom'.
Color Scheme
A monochromatic green palette consisting of Bright Green (base), Dark Green (accents/cape), Lime Green (head), and Metallic Gold (printing).
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the torso (front and back) and the front of the legs. The gold is a metallic ink that reflects light well, and the head features intricate scale detailing across the crest.
Variants
There are no significant physical variants of this specific Acidicus ID, though his legacy version (njo496) released in 2019 features different printing and no cape.
Condition Notes
Common wear points include fraying on the edges of the cloth cape and 'neck crack' stress marks on the green torso. The rubbery texture of the head piece can sometimes attract dust or develop 'tackiness' if stored in high humidity.
Estimated Value
Used Complete: $30.00 - $45.00 USD; New/Sealed (Minifigure only): $55.00 - $80.00 USD. Value is heavily dictated by the crispness of the gold printing and the quality of the cape.
Price (New)
Originally available in Set 9450 ($119.99) and Set 9444 ($34.99). The minifigure's individual value has appreciated significantly since the sets were retired in late 2013.
Compatible Sets
Appearances include: 9450 Epic Dragon Battle (2012) and 9444 Cole's Tread Assault (2012).
Character Background
Acidicus is the General of the Venomari, one of the five Serpentine tribes. In the Ninjago lore, he is the most intelligent of the Serpentine generals and is responsible for brewing the hallucinogenic venom used by his tribe.
Design Notes
Acidicus utilizes a specialized Serpentine head mold designed for the 2012 wave, which fits over the torso's neck stud. This era of Ninjago was revolutionary for moving away from standard heads to character-specific biological molds.
Similar Minifigures
Other Serpentine Generals: Pythor (njo040), Skales (njo035), Fangtom (njo049), and Skalidor (njo062).
Collectibility
High. He is a 'General,' and completing the set of all five original Serpentine Generals is a primary goal for many Ninjago collectors, driving steady demand.
History
Launched during the first major wave of Ninjago’s expansion, Acidicus helped establish the distinct identity of the various snake tribes before the theme was originally planned to end in 2013.
Interesting Facts
Despite being the General, he only briefly appeared in the TV show compared to Skales or Pythor, making his physical minifigure much more legendary than his screen time suggests.
Display Suggestions
Display alongside the other four Serpentine Generals or placed on the 'Great Devourer' build from Set 9450. Use a clear acrylic case to prevent the green cape from collecting dust.
Modification Potential
The head piece is a favorite for MOC builders creating custom swamp monsters or reptilian aliens for Star Wars-themed creations.
Overall Assessment
A standout figure from the Golden Age of Ninjago. The tattered cape and the specialized head mold make him feel more premium than modern Ninjago villains. Rating: 9/10 for collector appeal.
