Theme
Star Wars
Year Released
2014. It debuted in set 75048 'The Phantom'. At the time, LEGO was transitioning to include characters from the then-new Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels.
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. This specific version (sw0565) was only released in two sets during the original Rebels run (2014-2017). While not a convention exclusive, its value has spiked due to the popularity of the Ahsoka live-action series.
Head
Unique C-series Astromech head mold. It features an orange dome with dark orange and silver printing to represent its weathered, mismatched appearance. It includes a recessed stud on top.
Torso
Shortened Astromech body mold in white. Features highly detailed mismatched plate printing in light bluish gray, yellow, and orange on the front. No back printing is present on this specific version.
Legs
Two white Astromech legs (left and right) that are standard to R2-series droids, which is technically a slight design compromise as Chopper has more unique struts in the show.
Accessories
Usually none. The figure is complete as pictured. In the original set (75048), it is meant to sit in the droid socket of the Phantom.
Color Scheme
A 'scrap' aesthetic consisting of White, Orange, Dark Orange, and Light Bluish Gray, reflecting Chopper's lore as a droid made from spare parts.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the dome and front of the torso. The alignment of the orange band on the dome is a common area for slight factory variance.
Variants
There are three main variants: sw0565 (Original), sw1131 (2020 version with a more accurate head/body color match), and sw1289 (2023 Ahsoka version with a printed 2x2 round tile for a head).
Condition Notes
The white plastic on the body and legs is susceptible to yellowing from UV exposure. The dome printing can scratch easily if the figure is stored in a bin with other parts.
Estimated Value
Current market value for sw0565 in used condition ranges from $25 to $40 USD. In new condition, it can exceed $50 USD depending on the set context.
Price (New)
Originally available in set 75048 ($24.99 USD) and later set 75170 ($29.99 USD). The figure's value now exceeds the original retail price of the sets it came in.
Compatible Sets
75048 The Phantom (2014) and 75170 The Phantom (2017).
Character Background
C1-10P, or Chopper, is a grumpy, archaic Astromech droid serving the Ghost crew in Star Wars Rebels. He is a veteran of the Clone Wars and famously has one of the highest 'kill counts' in the Star Wars universe.
Design Notes
LEGO utilized a standard R2 body but shortened the height via the unique head mold to capture Chopper's stockier silhouette. The mismatched paneling is very screen-accurate.
Similar Minifigures
R2-D2 (various versions), BB-8, and other Rebels characters like Hera Syndulla (sw0576) or Ezra Bridger (sw0566).
Collectibility
High. Chopper is a fan-favorite character. As Rebels content continues to integrate into live-action Star Wars, demand for the 'original' animated-style minifigure remains very strong.
History
Launched at the start of the Rebels line in 2014. This specific mold stayed active for the duration of the show's run before being updated for the Ahsoka series in 2023.
Interesting Facts
The 'arms' that Chopper uses in the show are not represented in this minifigure version; it wouldn't be until the 2023 version that LEGO attempted a more complex 'three-arm' setup using tiles.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed alongside the Ghost crew on a custom gray baseplate or inside the droid socket of the Phantom (75048 or 75170). Keep away from direct sunlight.
Modification Potential
Collectors often add a small trans-clear stud and a gray mechanical arm to the top to simulate his auxiliary manipulators. The body can be swapped with newer prints if desired.
Overall Assessment
A top-tier Star Wars character figure. The sw0565 version is considered the 'classic' Chopper. Highly recommended for any LEGO Star Wars completionist.
