Character Background
Galen Erso is a polymath scientist and the father of Jyn Erso. He was forced to work on the Death Star but purposefully designed a critical weakness into its thermal exhaust port.
Design Notes
The torso is actually shared with the Imperial Ground Crew (sw0785), but the head is unique to Galen, making it the most valuable part of the figure.
Similar Minifigures
Imperial Ground Crew (sw0785), Director Krennic (sw0781), Cassian Andor (sw0813).
Collectibility
High. Since Galen has only appeared once and is a pivotal character in the Star Wars anthology, he is a 'must-have' for completionist collectors.
History
Launched in the second wave of Rogue One sets. It represented LEGO's shift toward including more specific character variants in mid-range sets.
Interesting Facts
Despite being the genius behind the Death Star, Galen is depicted here in the lowest-ranking Ground Crew disguise to facilitate his daughter's escape with the plans.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed alongside Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor in a Scarif base diorama or an Imperial corridor vignette.
Modification Potential
Excellent for Imperial MOCs. The head is very versatile for creating other bearded male characters in any modern theme.
Overall Assessment
A solid, movie-accurate figure. While the body is reused from generic rank-and-file troops, the exclusive head print makes it a valuable addition to ANY Star Wars collection.
