Character Background

Hadras is a cursed crew member of the Flying Dutchman under Davy Jones. He is best known for the scene where his head is knocked off and runs around independently on a crab's body.

Design Notes

A standout design due to the specialized hair mold which captures the 'organic' feel of the movie costuming. One of the few figures with white pupilless eyes.

Similar Minifigures

Maccus (poc011), Captain Davy Jones (poc031), Bootstrap Bill (poc025).

Collectibility

High. Licensed Pirates of the Caribbean figures are some of the most sought-after retired minifigures due to the unique molds and fan-base loyalty.

History

Part of the 2011 launch of the Pirates of the Caribbean line to coincide with the 'On Stranger Tides' film, though this character appears in the earlier films.

Interesting Facts

Despite being a seafaring character, this minifigure only appears in the 'Cannibal Escape' set, which depicts a land-based scene from Dead Man's Chest.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside the Black Pearl (4184) or in a tropical island diorama. UV-protected cases are recommended to prevent tan plastic yellowing.

Modification Potential

The head and hair are frequently used by customizers to create other members of the Flying Dutchman crew or sea-monsters.

Overall Assessment

An excellent collector's item with a 9/10 desirability rating for fans of the franchise. It represents a peak era of original LEGO molding for licensed themes.
