Rarity
Uncommon - Appears in only two sets from 2014. While not ultra-rare, it is a highly specific character with unique molds.
Head
Black Minifigure Head featuring a unique red electronic eye and mechanical detailing. Covered by a black Ninja wrap with a specialized metallic silver cyborg scanning piece attached to the right side.
Torso
Black torso with detailed mechanical printing including white and red circuitry, a purple sash/undershirt detail, and a built-in armor breastplate print. Features black arms and hands.
Legs
Standard black legs without printing. The character's shorter stature is canonically established, though the figure uses standard size legs to accommodate the detailed torso interaction.
Accessories
Includes a specialized Nindroid neck-bracket armor piece with shoulder pads and a rear katana holder. Typically equipped with a silver techno-blade or various mechanical weaponry in-set.
Color Scheme
Primarily black with metallic silver accents. Features purple highlights on the torso printing and a distinctive red glowing eye.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the head and torso. The torso features intricate circuit-like patterns and mechanical textures that were advanced for the 2014 era.
Variants
Standard version (njo093). While other Nindroids exist (General Cryptor, Nindroid Warriors), Mindroid is the only one with this specific headgear layout and personality coding.
Condition Notes
Check for silver paint wear on the headgear. The neck-bracket armor can cause stress marks on the torso neck stub if removed frequently. Watch for scratching on the black polished surfaces.
Estimated Value
Used: $5.00 - $8.00; New/Mint: $12.00 - $18.00 depending on the condition of the silver-painted elements.
Price (New)
Originally available in sets ranging from $14.99 (70720) to $29.99 (70724).
Compatible Sets
70720 Hover Hunter, 70724 NinjaCopter.
Character Background
Mindroid is the shortest of the Nindroid army created by the Overlord. Due to a manufacturing error, he was built smaller than the others, resulting in a 'short-circuit' personality filled with anger and a desire to prove himself.
Design Notes
Uses a unique silver-painted headgear element clipped to the mask. This was a significant step in the 'Rebooted' wave's move toward asymmetrical cyborg character designs.
Similar Minifigures
General Cryptor (njo094), Nindroid Warrior (njo083), and various other Season 3 robotic enemies.
Collectibility
High for Ninjago completists. Mindroid is a named character with a unique personality in the show, making him more desirable than generic army builders.
History
Part of the first major 'relaunch' of Ninjago after its initial planned cancellation, introducing the first mechanized enemies in the theme's history.
Interesting Facts
Despite being 'short' in the TV show, the LEGO minifigure uses standard adult legs; many fans swap them for short/mid-sized legs to achieve screen accuracy.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed with the NinjaCopter set or alongside General Cryptor to showcase the size/rank difference. Use cool white or red LED lighting to make the silver and red eye pop.
Modification Potential
Commonly modified with short black legs (part 41879) to better reflect his diminutive stature in the animated series.
Overall Assessment
A standout character from one of Ninjago's most experimental eras. The mechanical printing and unique headgear make it a visually striking addition to any sci-fi or ninja collection.
