Year Released
2019 - Debuted in set 70664 (Spinjitzu Lloyd vs. Garmadon). This was part of the first wave of Ninjago 'Legacy' sets which reimagined classic characters and vehicles for the theme's anniversary years.
Rarity
Uncommon. While not a limited-edition exclusive, it appeared only in three sets of varying price points. The 4-arm torso piece makes it more desirable and slightly harder to find than standard figures.
Head
Double-sided printing: one side features an aggressive, teeth-baring growl, the other a sinister grin. The skin tone is black with red eyes and white pupils. No headgear or hair included in this specific version shown.
Torso
Unique double-torso assembly consisting of a standard lower torso and a specialized upper torso piece with two additional arm sockets. Features intricate silver 'Oni' markings/tattoos and a blue sash belt printed on the front.
Legs
Dual-molded or printed legs featuring black boots, brown trousers, and the continuation of the blue sash and loincloth design. Standard Ninjago 'Legacy' leg printing for this character version.
Accessories
Missing in the image. Originally included four katanas (usually silver or trans-purple) or lightning/fire elements depending on the set. It also typically utilizes a small lime-green or olive neck element (ribbed cape/fur) as seen in the photo.
Color Scheme
Primarily black with Dark Brown, Medium Blue sash accents, and Silver/White printing. The lime-green neck piece provides a stark visual contrast common to the Legacy Garmadon design.
Printing Details
High-density metallic silver printing on the chest and face. Features back printing on both torso pieces. Alignment is generally excellent, reflecting LEGO's 2019 production standards.
Variants
Standard Garmadon (njo013), Garmadon with Helmet (njo042), and the Movie Garmadon (njo312). This 'Legacy' variant is distinct for its combination of the classic black look with modernized print patterns.
Condition Notes
Common wear points include the arm sockets on the specialized upper torso which can develop stress cracks. The metallic silver printing on the face is prone to rubbing off over time with heavy play.
Estimated Value
Used: $12.00 - $18.00 USD; New/Mint: $22.00 - $30.00 USD. Value is heavily dependent on the condition of the silver 'tattoo' prints.
Price (New)
Available in set 70664 ($19.99 MSRP), set 70679 ($129.99 MSRP), and set 70658 ($49.99 MSRP). The Spinjitzu pack was the most affordable way to obtain him.
Compatible Sets
70664 Spinjitzu Lloyd vs. Garmadon, 70679 The Ultra Dragon, 70658 Oni Titan.
Character Background
Lord Garmadon is the primary antagonist (and later anti-hero) of Ninjago. The 4-arm form represents his state after being corrupted by the Great Devourer's venom and traveling to the Underworld.
Design Notes
The 4-arm mold was a significant innovation for Ninjago, allowing the figure to hold four weapons simultaneously without using bulky armor pieces like earlier versions.
Similar Minifigures
Overlord (njo083), Samukai (njo009), Garmadon - Sons of Garmadon (njo397).
Collectibility
High. Garmadon is the most iconic villain in the franchise. The 4-arm versions are always more sought after by collectors than the 2-arm 'Sensei' or 'Human' versions.
History
First appeared in 2011. This 2019 version modernized the printing to match the higher detail levels seen in the Ninjago Movie, while retaining the classic 'villain' aesthetic.
Interesting Facts
The 4-arm torso piece is actually two separate plastic molds fused together during production. In the TV show, Garmadon only grew the extra arms so he could wield all four Golden Weapons at once.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed in a battle pose holding four weapons. Pairs perfectly with the 2019 Legacy Lloyd Garmadon. Use a transparent 'action' stand to elevate him above smaller ninja.
Modification Potential
The 4-arm torso is a favorite for MOC-builders (My Own Creations) to create custom General Grievous upgrades or fantasy monsters/demons.
Overall Assessment
A standout Ninjago figure. The silver printing and unique 4-arm silhouette make it a 'must-have' for fans of the series. Quality is top-tier for a play-line figure.
