Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)

Figure ID

sh681

Theme

Marvel Super Heroes

Year Released

2021 (Debuted in set 76173 Spider-Man and Ghost Rider vs. Carnage)

Rarity

Uncommon. While not a limited promotional item, it is the only minifigure representation of the Robbie Reyes version of the character, appearing in only one retail set to date.

Head

Unique silver/metallic grey head piece with black and orange printing. Features a stylized skull mask with orange eyes and tribalistic black line work. Topped with a trans-orange flame piece representing hellfire.

Torso

Black leather jacket design with a large silver and white rectangular border on the chest, mimicking the character's signature look. Includes subtle grey seam lines and back printing to continue the jacket detail.

Legs

Dark Blue plain legs. Note: In the image provided, the legs appear to be Dark Blue, which is correct for sh681, though the figure carries a very simple lower-half design.

Accessories

Typically comes with a trans-orange chain (representing the Hellfire Chain). In the image, no external accessories are held, but the trans-orange flame headpiece is the primary unique element.

Color Scheme

Black, Silver, and Dark Blue, accented by Trans-Orange and White. This departs from the classic Johnny Blaze 'Blue/Orange' scheme to reflect Robbie Reyes' modern comic appearance.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the head and torso. The silver ink on the head has a metallic sheen. There is no leg or arm printing, which is standard for mid-range Marvel sets of this era.

Variants

This is the Robbie Reyes version. It is distinct from the 2016 'Johnny Blaze' version (sh273), which features a white skull and a blue motorcycle outfit.

Condition Notes

The trans-orange flame piece can develop stress marks at the attachment point if removed frequently. The silver printing on the face is susceptible to rubbing and scratches over time.

Estimated Value

Used: $8 - $12 USD; New: $14 - $18 USD. As a unique version of a popular character, it maintains its value well even without the set.

Price (New)

$19.99 (Original retail price of set 76173, which included three minifigures and a vehicle).

Compatible Sets

76173 Spider-Man and Ghost Rider vs. Carnage (2021).

Character Background

Robbie Reyes is a Mexican-American resident of East Los Angeles who becomes the Ghost Rider after being empowered by the spirit of Eli Morrow. Unlike previous Ghost Riders who rode motorcycles, Robbie drives a black muscle car called the 'Hell Charger'.

Design Notes

LEGO utilized the newer flame mold for the hair which provides a more modern, 'upward' flame look compared to the original 2016 version. The torso print perfectly captures the 'All-New Ghost Rider' aesthetic.

Similar Minifigures

sh273 Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze), sh849 Ghost Rider (Classic/Retro), and various versions of Carnage or Spider-Man from the same wave.

Collectibility

High for Marvel completionists. Robbie Reyes has a dedicated cult following from 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and the 'All-New Ghost Rider' comics, making this a specific target for modern MCU/Comic fans.

History

This figure marked the first time LEGO acknowledged a Ghost Rider other than Johnny Blaze. It was released during a wave that focused on 'Spider-Man's Team-ups' rather than a direct movie tie-in.

Interesting Facts

The flame hair piece is a dual-molded or specialized trans-clearance piece that has appeared in various colors for characters like Firestorm (DC) and Ninjago elemental characters.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed alongside a custom-built 1969 Dodge Charger (the Hell Charger) or with the other members of the Midnight Suns/Sons team.

Modification Potential

Commonly modified by collectors to include more 'hellfire' accessories or swapped onto more detailed black legs with side-printing to increase 'premium' feel.

Overall Assessment

A fantastic and accurate representation of a modern Marvel fan-favorite. While the legs are slightly plain, the head mold and torso print are excellent. Rating: 8/10 for Marvel collectors.
