Theme

Year Released

2014 - Set 70728 Battle for Ninjago City

Rarity

Rare. This specific white-scaled version of Pythor was exclusive to one single, high-priced set (70728). Unlike his more common purple counterpart, this 'Bleached' variant is highly sought after by collectors.

Head

Unique molded white Serpentine head piece with an elongated neck. Features a gaping maw with molded teeth, red eyes with black pupils, and purple scale markings on the top of the skull.

Torso

White torso with intricate printing: purple scales, red and gold harness/armor details, and a central snake emblem. Arms are white with Dark Purple hands to match his original serpentine tribe colors.

Legs

He uses the 'Snakes Tail' lower body element rather than standard legs. It is a large, curved mold in black with gold trim and red/purple Ninjago script printing on the front 'apron' section.

Accessories

Included with a Pearl Gold 'Fangblade' or scimitar-style sword, as shown in the image. In the original set, he did not come with many other personal accessories, though his tail acts as a significant physical piece.

Color Scheme

Dominant white body (representing his bleached appearance) with purple, red, and gold accents. The lower tail section is black.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the head, front torso, back torso, and the front slope of the tail piece. The alignment of the purple scales from the head to the torso is a key detail for collectors.

Variants

The original version (njo041) is purple with a longer tail. There is also a 'Legacy' version (njo503) and a 'Crystalized' version (njo758). This white 'Rebooted' version is distinct for being his only colorless/white appearance.

Condition Notes

The white plastic is prone to yellowing if exposed to UV light. Check the neck joint and where the tail meets the torso for stress marks. The long molded head can be prone to scuffing on the 'snout'.

Estimated Value

Used: $45 - $60 USD | New/Mint: $75 - $100+ USD. Individual head pieces alone often sell for over $20 due to their unique mold.

Price (New)

Originally released in set 70728 which retailed for $119.99 in 2014. It was the only way to obtain this specific figure at retail.

Character Background

Pythor P. Chumsworth is the primary antagonist and the last surviving member of the Anacondrai tribe. In the 'Rebooted' season, he returned with white scales after being bleached by digestive juices inside the Great Devourer.

Design Notes

This figure is iconic for utilizing the specialized Serpentine tail and head molds. The transition from the purple tribal leader to this 'ghostly' white version represents a significant plot point in the Ninjago series.

Similar Minifigures

Pythor (njo041 - Purple), Arcturus (njo130), General Kozu (njo073), and other Anacondrai cultists from the Tournament of Elements wave.

Collectibility

High. He is a 'Main Villain' variant. As Ninjago fans grow older, the demand for early-wave exclusive villains like this version of Pythor continues to rise.

History

Pythor first appeared in 2012 as a purple snake. This 2014 white version marked his return to the series after fans thought he had been killed off, making it a milestone figure for the show's lore.

Interesting Facts

Despite being an Anacondrai (the most powerful tribe), this figure is one of the few Serpentine to ever use a black tail piece instead of a color-matched one, representing his charred or weakened state.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside the Overlord or Nindroid army. Use a clear acrylic stand to support the tail, as the figure is top-heavy due to the large head and neck mold.

Modification Potential

The head and tail are often used by MOC (My Own Creation) builders to create custom mythical creatures or other Serpentine generals like Arcturus.

Overall Assessment

A standout Ninjago villain with a unique silhouette. Because it was exclusive to a large, expensive set, it remains a crown jewel for collectors of the 'Rebooted' era of Ninjago.
