Year Released

Released in January 2012 as part of the sixth wave of LEGO's blind-bagged mystery series.

Rarity

Uncommon. While part of a mass-market series, it is now over a decade old and highly sought after by sci-fi and Space-themed MOC builders, making individual figures harder to find in bulk.

Head

A unique, specialized Light Bluish Gray mold designed to mimic a 'Grey Alien' archetype. It features large, slanted black eyes with a small white pupil reflection and a tiny slit for a mouth. The head is larger than a standard minifigure head and slightly elongated.

Torso

Light Bluish Gray with simple, dark gray outlines representing pectoral and abdominal muscles. This 'naked' or biological suit look is printed on both sides. The arms are Light Bluish Gray with Dark Bluish Gray hands.

Legs

Plain Light Bluish Gray legs without printing. These are standard 1x2 LEGO legs.

Accessories

Originally included a lime green translucent ray gun (blaster). The figure in the image is missing this accessory.

Color Scheme

Primarily Light Bluish Gray (body and head) with Dark Bluish Gray hands and accents. The only non-monochromatic color in the original set was the lime green accessory.

Printing Details

Minimalist dark gray line-work on the torso and pad-printed black/white for the eyes. The printing is sharp, typical of the 2012 CMF quality standards.

Variants

This is the only version of this specific mold/print combo in Light Bluish Gray. A similar 'Classic Alien' was later released in Series 21 (col377) but features a different color palette (teal/purple head and suit).

Condition Notes

The large molded head is prone to visible scratches and scuffs on the smooth plastic. The Dark Bluish Gray hands are susceptible to cracking at the wrists over time. Check for neck-post stress marks due to the weight of the specialized head.

Estimated Value

Used (incomplete/no accessory): $5 - $8 USD. Used (complete): $10 - $14 USD. New (sealed in packet): $20 - $25 USD.

Price (New)

Original retail price was $2.99 USD per blind bag in 2012.

Compatible Sets

Only appeared in 8827 Collectible Minifigures Series 6 (2012). It did not appear in any standard retail sets.

Character Background

A generic representation of the 'Rosewell Grey' or 'Type 1' extra-terrestrial often seen in pop culture and sci-fi tropes. In LEGO lore, he is often depicted as a mischievous interloper trying to evade cosmic authorities.

Design Notes

This figure was a milestone for fans of LEGO Space because it provided a realistic 'grey alien' head mold that didn't exist in earlier themes like UFO or Life on Mars. It uses a custom-molded head that does not accommodate standard hair or hats.

Similar Minifigures

Alien Trooper (Series 13), Classic Alien (Series 21), and the Alien from the Alien Conquest theme (2011).

Collectibility

High. This figure is a staple for sci-fi dioramas, Area 51 MOCs, and general LEGO Space collectors. Its neutral color scheme makes it highly versatile.

History

Follows the lineage of LEGO's exploration into non-humanoid or non-traditional head molds which became more prominent in the early 2010s. It bridged the gap between 'toony' aliens and more 'realistic' sci-fi designs.

Interesting Facts

Despite being named 'Alien Villain', his expression is relatively neutral. It is one of the few minifigures that can look completely naked yet remains 'clothed' in the context of alien biology.

Display Suggestions

Looks best in a laboratory setting or stepping out of a classic saucer-shaped UFO. Displays well alongside other CMF space figures like the Galaxy Patrol or Classic Space astronauts.

Modification Potential

The head is often used for custom Star Wars 'Kaminoan' or 'Bith' style characters. The torso is excellent for custom 'naked' gray characters or custom robots.

Overall Assessment

A foundational piece for any LEGO Sci-Fi collection. While the torso is simple, the unique head mold is the standout feature. Score: 8/10 for utility and iconic design.
