Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot, Printed Legs)

Figure ID

sw1140

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

Released in 2021 as part of the winter wave for the 75301 Luke Skywalker's X-wing Fighter.

Rarity

Common. It is widely available due to being the main protagonist in a high-volume retail set that remained on shelves for several years.

Head

Light Flesh dual-sided head. Side one features a determined smile with orange visor printing and a chin strap; side two features a stressed/frightened expression. This head mold/print was standard for Luke figures of this era.

Torso

Flight suit orange with rebel pilot harness, life support box, and silver/gray detailing on both front and back. Features black hands and orange arms without printing.

Legs

Orange legs with detailed printing including leg straps, pockets, and a utility belt. The printing continues from the torso down to the hip and upper thighs.

Accessories

The figure is shown with its white Rebel pilot helmet featuring blue Rebellion insignias and a trans-yellow visor (printed). In the original set, it also includes a blue lightsaber and a separate hair piece.

Color Scheme

Primary Bright Orange with White, Light Bluish Gray, and Blue accents. Features black hands representing flight gloves.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the head, helmet, torso, and front of the legs. This version is noted for its improved leg printing compared to flight suit Lukes from the early 2010s.

Variants

Close variants include sw0790 (2017 version with different head/torso) and sw1234 (older helmet molds without the integrated visor printing). This sw1140 variant is the most common modern iteration.

Condition Notes

Look for scratches on the printed helmet visor and torso print wear. The helmet is prone to loose 'clutch' on the head over time. Orange plastic is generally durable and resistant to obvious yellowing.

Estimated Value

New: $5-$7; Used Complete: $3-$5. Value is currently low because the set was mass-produced, though it may rise slowly once set 75301 is fully retired.

Price (New)

Came in set 75301 which retailed for $49.99 USD. The minifigure's individual value was approximately 10% of the set price at launch.

Compatible Sets

75301 Luke Skywalker's X-wing Fighter (2021), 75298 AT-AT vs Tauntaun Microfighters (includes similar parts), and various LEGO Star Wars magazines/books.

Character Background

Luke Skywalker in his T-65 X-wing pilot gear as seen during the Battle of Yavin in A New Hope. He wears this outfit while destroying the first Death Star.

Design Notes

The helmet utilizes the modern mold with printed internal visor details rather than a separate trans-yellow plastic piece. The leg printing adds significant texture compared to the plain legs of classic 1999-2005 versions.

Similar Minifigures

Biggs Darklighter (sw0896), Wedge Antilles (sw1014), and Dak Ralter (sw0567). All share the same Rebel flight suit template.

Collectibility

Standard collectibility. It is a 'staple' figure that every Star Wars fan likely owns, making it essential for a collection but not high-priority for investors due to supply.

History

Luke in a pilot suit was one of the first 1999 Star Wars figures (sw0005). This 2021 version represents the peak of detail for the play-scale line before moving into more 'premium' anniversary designs.

Interesting Facts

The helmet print on this version is actually based on the 'Dual-Molded' look but is achieved through high-precision pad printing on a solid white piece.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed inside a 75301 X-wing or on a stand next to R2-D2. Using a small trans-clear bar to simulate him jumping out of the cockpit is a popular MOC display.

Modification Potential

Highly modular; the legs and torso are perfect for creating custom pilots like Jek Porkins or other Red Squadron members by simply swapping the head.

Overall Assessment

A solid, detailed, and highly accurate representation of the character. While not rare, it is objectively one of the best 'play-scale' pilot Lukes LEGO has ever produced. Rating: 8/10.
