Theme
Star Wars
Year Released
Released in 2014 in sets 75034 Death Star Troopers and 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer
Rarity
Uncommon. While common in its release year, finding them with unfrayed red-back sponge capes in good condition is becoming more difficult.
Head
Plain black head with no printing. This was a common design choice to simulate the dark visor of the helmet.
Torso
Red torso with shadow-like dark red printing depicting robes. Dark red arms with red hands. The print detail is high but simplistic to match the movie aesthetic.
Legs
Plain red legs with no printing, which is accurate to the sleek, monolithic robes of the character.
Accessories
Force Pike made from a black lightsaber hilt and a light bluish gray stick part. Features a custom red cape that is red on both sides (later versions had different inner colors).
Color Scheme
Monochromatic red with dark red accents and a black visor area. The scheme is iconic to the Emperor's personal guard.
Printing Details
Pad-printed torso with subtle dark red lines and shading. The helmet mold is the standout feature, requiring no printing due to its accurate shape.
Variants
Variations exist from 2001 (sw0040) with different helmet shapes, and 2016-2023 versions which feature printed legs and different robe designs.
Condition Notes
Watch for fraying on the cape edges and stress marks on the red helmet's chin point. Red plastic can sometimes show white stress marks if handled roughly.
Estimated Value
Used: $4.00 - $7.00; New/Mint: $10.00 - $14.00. Value fluctuates based on cape crispness.

Originally available in battle pack 75034 for $12.99, which included two of these figures.

Character Background
The Emperor's Royal Guard are elite, silent protectors of Sheev Palpatine, known for their lethality and absolute loyalty.
Design Notes
This version uses the modern helmet mold that wraps around the neck, providing a more seamless look than the classic slotted version.
Similar Minifigures
Senate Guard (sw0602), Shadow Guard (sw0604), and the newer 2023 Royal Guard (sw1261).
Collectibility
High for army builders; most Star Wars fans want at least two to flank a Palpatine minifigure.
History
The Royal Guard has been a LEGO Star Wars staple since 2001, with this 2014 version representing the 'modern classic' style.
Interesting Facts
The helmet for this figure is often used by MOC builders as a base for custom cultists or high-fantasy knights due to its sleek shape.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed in pairs on either side of an Emperor Palpatine (sw0634) on a black or gray baseplate.
Modification Potential
Excellent for purist customs; switching the head for a printed face can create 'unmasked' guards as seen in Expanded Universe lore.
Overall Assessment
A solid, essential minifigure for any Imperial collection. Its simple design is its greatest strength, perfectly capturing the screen-accurate look.
