Figure ID

sh015

Theme

Marvel Super Heroes

Year Released

2012. It debuted as part of the primary LEGO Marvel Super Heroes launch wave alongside the first Avengers film.

Rarity

Uncommon. While not a limited promotional item, it was only available in two sets from 2012 and features the distinct triangular Arc Reactor which was quickly phased out for the circular designs in later waves.

Head

Light Flesh dual-sided head. One side features Tony Stark with a smirk and goatee; the other features an 'in-helmet' Head-Up Display (HUD) with blue interface lines. (Note: The helmet and hair are missing in the image).

Torso

Dark red with extensive mechanical plating print on both sides. Features a white and silver triangular Arc Reactor. Arms are solid dark red; hands are dark red.

Legs

Dark red with gold and silver mechanical print on the hips and front of the legs, continuing the armor plating aesthetic.

Accessories

Missing in image. Originally includes a flip-up helmet (part 93055) with a metallic gold faceplate and blue translucent 'Power Blast' studs or transparent-blue round bricks for flight depiction.

Color Scheme

Primarily Dark Red with Metallic Gold and Silver accents. The HUD printing on the head is Medium Azure.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing. The torso features detailed linework for armor seams. The head print is complex, specifically the micro-printing on the blue HUD interface.

Variants

There are over 50 variants of Iron Man. This specific sh015 is identified by the triangular reactor and dark red (rather than bright red) hands. Not to be confused with sh036 (Mark 7) or sh213 (Silver Centurion).

Condition Notes

The torso is prone to cracking along the sides under the arms. Dark red plastic from this era can occasionally be brittle. Check for scratches on the gold leg printing as it rubs off easily.

Estimated Value

New (Complete): $45-$60. Used (Complete): $30-$40. As shown (Missing helmet/hair): $15-$20. Prices in USD based on BrickLink market averages.

Price (New)

Available in set 6867 ($19.99) and set 6869 ($69.99). The figure was highly sought after as it was the most accessible way to get Tony Stark at the time.

Compatible Sets

6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape (2012), 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle (2012).

Character Background

Based on Tony Stark's sixth armor iteration seen in Iron Man 2 and the first half of The Avengers. It is the only MCU armor to feature the triangular arc reactor as a primary power source/design.

Design Notes

This era of Iron Man used a two-piece opening helmet mold. Modern versions occasionally use a single-piece printed head or a smaller helmet mold, making this 2012 version feel bulkier and more 'classic' to early collectors.

Similar Minifigures

sh036 Iron Man Mark 7, sh011 Iron Man Mark 42, sh065 Iron Man Mark 42 (Plain Head).

Collectibility

High. As one of the 'OG' Marvel minifigures from the 2012 launch, it holds significant nostalgic and monetary value for MCU collectors.

History

Launched the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes line. It represented a major shift for LEGO into licensed superhero properties following the success of the Batman line.

Interesting Facts

This was the first time LEGO used a HUD (Head-Up Display) print on a minifigure head to simulate the inside of a helmet view, a feature now standard for Iron Man and Mandalorian figures.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed with the helmet closed and Tony's HUD face showing through the eye slots, or with the helmet open to show the goatee face. Pairs perfectly with the 2012 Loki or Thor.

Modification Potential

The head is a popular 'purist' choice for other tech-based heroes like Cyborg or custom Mandos owing to the HUD printing.

Overall Assessment

A foundational piece of LEGO Marvel history. Despite being incomplete in the photo, the torso and leg prints appear to be in good condition, making it worth completing with a replacement helmet/faceplate.
