Character Background
Pythor P. Chumsworth is the main antagonist of Ninjago's first season. He is the last surviving member of the Anacondrai tribe and sought to unite the four other Serpentine tribes to release the Great Devourer.
Design Notes
One of the most innovative designs of its era, featuring a non-standard height and a unique neck mold that deviates significantly from the standard minifigure silhouette.
Similar Minifigures
Skales (njo035), Acidicus (njo066), Fangtom (njo049), and Lord Garmadon (njo013).
Collectibility
High. As a primary antagonist and a unique mold, he is a 'holy grail' for many Ninjago collectors. His value has shown consistent appreciation over the last decade.
History
Pythor set the precedent for 'oversized' or uniquely shaped villains in the Ninjago theme, leading the way for future characters like Kozu or the Time Twins.
Interesting Facts
The 'P' in his middle name stands for 'Pritchell'. He is the only Anacondrai to appear in the first wave because his tribe supposedly cannibalized one another in the Serpentine tombs.
Display Suggestions
Display on a raised stand to accentuate his height compared to standard Ninja minifigures. Pair with the 4 other Serpentine Generals to complete the Set of 5.
Modification Potential
The tail piece is popular among MOC builders for creating custom nagas, gorgons, or other mythological serpent creatures.
Overall Assessment
An essential piece of Ninjago history. Its unique mold and status as the first major villain make it highly desirable despite the premium aftermarket price.
