Imperial AT-AT Driver (Light Bluish Gray Hips, Plain Torso Pattern Variant)
sw0262 · Star Wars
Ultimate Collector Series / Classic Star Wars Trilogy · 2010 (Debuted in set 8129 AT-AT Walker)

Figure ID
sw0262
Theme
Star Wars
Year Released
2010 (Debuted in set 8129 AT-AT Walker)
Rarity
Uncommon. While not restricted to a single set, this specific variation with the light bluish gray hips and the 2010-era torso printing was only available for a few years before the 2014 redesign.
Head
Features a solid black head piece underneath the helmet, which was standard for pilot-type minifigures during this era to simulate a visor effect. The helmet is a specialized white mold with detailed printing: black vents, Imperial insignias on both sides, and a red dot on the left side of the breather.
Torso
Light bluish gray torso with detailed printing representing the life support pack and flight suit. The print includes dual corrugated hoses leading to a chest control box with red and blue button details. The arms are light bluish gray with white hands.
Legs
Light bluish gray legs and hips. These are plain and do not feature printing, which was standard for this iteration of the character.
Accessories
Typically comes with a standard black medium blaster (E-11 style) or a small blaster pistol. The helmet is the primary accessory and is removable as a single piece.
Color Scheme
White and Light Bluish Gray. This palette is designed to match the exterior hull of the AT-AT Walker and the specialized cold-weather/cockpit gear seen in 'The Empire Strikes Back'.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the helmet and torso front. There is no back printing on the torso or legs, which is typical for the 2010 production cycle. The alignment on the helmet breathers is a frequent spot for minor factory deviations.
Variants
There are several versions of the AT-AT driver. The 2003 version (sw0095) had a different helmet mold. The 2014 version (sw0581) introduced detailed leg printing and a flesh-toned face. This version (sw0262) is the bridge between the 'classic' and 'modern' styles.
Condition Notes
The white helmet is prone to yellowing if exposed to UV light. Check for 'neck cracks' on the light bluish gray torso and stress marks on the heels of the legs. The black printing on the helmet's nose can sometimes rub off with heavy play.
Estimated Value
Used: $8.00 - $12.00; New (pulled from set): $15.00 - $20.00. Value remains stable due to the iconic nature of the Imperial army builders.
Price (New)
Originally released in set 8129 AT-AT Walker which retailed for $109.99 USD in 2010.
Compatible Sets
8129 AT-AT Walker (2010), 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack (2012).
Character Background
AT-AT Pilots, also known as Combat Drivers, operated the All Terrain Armored Transport walkers. They were highly trained and wore specialized flight suits with life-support equipment for both pressurized cockpits and extreme environments like Hoth.
Design Notes
This version used a helmet mold that refined the 2003 original, offering much more accurate proportions to the movie props. The use of light bluish gray instead of light gray (which was discontinued in 2004) helps date this as a post-2004 figure.
Similar Minifigures
Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot (sw0268), Imperial AT-ST Driver (sw0093), and the 2014 updated AT-AT Driver (sw0581).
Collectibility
Moderate. It is a staple for collectors building Hoth dioramas. While not as expensive as a Jedi, it is a 'must-have' for completing the 2010-era AT-AT fleet.
History
Launched during the 30th Anniversary of 'The Empire Strikes Back'. It represented a significant jump in print detail for the character's chest piece compared to the early 2000s versions.
Interesting Facts
Despite being 'Pilots,' this figure appeared in the Endor Battle Pack (9489) alongside scout troopers, implying their use in other Imperial walkers like the AT-ST during that production wave.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed inside or standing next to a 1:40 scale AT-AT Walker. Using a white baseplate to simulate the snow of Hoth enhances the visual fidelity of the figure.
Modification Potential
Excellent for 'purist' customs. The torso can be used for custom Resistance pilots or mechanical droids. The helmet is often sought after for custom Snowtrooper commander modifications.
Overall Assessment
A solid, classic representation of an iconic Imperial specialist. It captures the aesthetic of the original trilogy perfectly with a balance of simplicity and necessary detail. A high value-for-money figure for army builders.
