Rebel Commando (Sand Green Suit, Frown/Smirk)

Figure ID

sw0367

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2012 (First appeared in set 9489)

Rarity

Common to Uncommon. While it appeared specifically in a low-priced battle pack, it is now over a decade old, making it harder to find in pristine condition.

Head

Light Flesh dual-sided head with reddish-brown eyebrows and facial hair stubble. One side shows a determined frown, the other a smirk. Accompanied by a sand green Commando helmet with dark tan side flaps.

Torso

Sand Green torso with Rebel Commando camouflage pattern. Features a dark bluish gray bandolier with silver buckle and pouches. Sleeves are sand green with light flesh hands.

Legs

Plain sand green legs and hips with no printing.

Accessories

Typically comes with a small blaster or long rifle (blaster rifle) in its original set, though none are pictured here. The sand green helmet is the primary specialized accessory.

Color Scheme

Primary Sand Green with accents of Dark Bluish Gray, Dark Tan, and Light Flesh. The camouflage palette is designed to blend with the forest moon of Endor.

Printing Details

Pad-printed torso front and back. The torso printing includes realistic fabric folds and tactical gear. The head features high-quality dual expressions standard for the 2012 era.

Variants

There are several Rebel Commando variants. sw0368 features a different face (stubble/shout) and slightly different torso. Older versions (sw0121) from 2005 used different molds and yellow skin tones.

Condition Notes

The sand green color is relatively stable against UV but check for 'torso cracks' on the sides under the arms. Ensure the helmet flaps are not bent or chewed.

Estimated Value

$4.00 - $7.00 USD (Used/Complete); $8.00 - $12.00 USD (New/Mint). The helmet alone often accounts for $1.50 of the value.

Price (New)

Originally available in Set 9489 (Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack) for $12.99 USD, which included 4 minifigures.

Compatible Sets

Set 9489: Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack (2012).

Character Background

These commandos were part of the strike team led by Han Solo to deactivate the shield generator on the Forest Moon of Endor before the attack on the second Death Star.

Design Notes

This version was a significant upgrade over the 2005 version, introducing 'Sand Green' as the primary color for a more screen-accurate 'Return of the Jedi' look compared to the older 'Earth Green' versions.

Similar Minifigures

sw0368 (Rebel Commando brown beard), sw0511 (Rebel Trooper with vest), and the original sw0121 (Classic yellow Commando).

Collectibility

Moderate. It is a 'grunt' figure, meaning collectors often seek them in high quantities for army building. Demand remains steady for dioramas.

History

Part of the 2012 wave of Star Wars sets which saw a massive overhaul of the Rebel and Imperial infantry figures to provide more detail and dual-sided head prints.

Interesting Facts

The helmet mold used for this figure is often called the 'Endor Rebel Helmet' and has remained one of LEGO's most accurate specialized headgear pieces for years.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in an Endor forest MOC with ferns and brown bricks, or alongside a 75306 Imperial Probe Droid or 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium.

Modification Potential

Excellent for military MOCs. The sand green parts are highly desirable for custom soldiers or post-apocalyptic survivors.

Overall Assessment

A solid, high-quality army builder. It captures the essence of the Endor strike team perfectly. While not a high-value character like Vader or Luke, its utility for MOC-builders makes it a staple for Star Wars collectors.
