Figure ID

njo124

Theme

Ninjago

Year Released

2015

Rarity

Uncommon but highly sought after. He was only released in a single, relatively affordable set, making him accessible but essential for completionists.

Head

Medium Blue with a distinctive metal-plated texture print on the right side of the face; one eye is narrow/angry while the other is part of the metallic plating; features a smirk.

Torso

Black with dark bluish gray ninja robe printing, including a belt/sash design; the arms are black, and the hands are yellow.

Legs

Dark brown with black hip joint; printing features gray wrappings/bandage details and belt extensions in a dark bluish gray and white color palette.

Accessories

In the original set, he comes with two 'metal' fist builds (large grey Technic/Bionicle style hands) to represent his elemental power of metal.

Color Scheme

Primary colors are medium blue (skin), black, and dark brown. The blue skin is highly unique to the character within the Ninjago universe.

Printing Details

High quality pad printing on the head, torso front, and legs front. The metallic silver ink used on the face for his 'metal skin' transformation is a highlight.

Variants

There are no official variants of Karlof; however, the hairpiece used (black textured messy hair) is common across many themes.

Condition Notes

Check for silver ink rubbing off the blue head, as metallic prints are prone to scratching. Check for hairline cracks in the black torso at the arm sockets.

Character Background

Karlov is the Elemental Master of Metal from the Metal Village. He participated in Master Chen's Tournament of Elements. He is known for his thick accent and ability to turn his skin into solid metal.

Design Notes

The use of 'Medium Blue' for a human character is a specific design choice to represent his metallic nature. The torso is shared with other minor characters, but the head is unique.

Similar Minifigures

Other Elemental Masters from the 2015 wave, such as Griffin Turner (njo115) or Shade (njo117). Also similar in vibe to Colossus from Marvel.

Collectibility

High. He is a 'Master of Elements' character, and Ninjago fans often aim to collect the full roster of tournament fighters.

History

Debuted in Season 4 of the Ninjago TV show. This figure represents his original look from the Tournament of Elements arc and has not been remade since.

Interesting Facts

Despite being a human, his LEGO figure uses blue skin to differentiate his 'powered up' state. In the show, he was the first master to be defeated and have his powers stripped by Chen.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside other Elemental Masters on a custom Dojo-style baseplate or in a shadow box arranged by element. Best shown with his oversized metal fist builds.

Modification Potential

Excellent for custom fantasy or sci-fi figures due to the unique blue head. Can be used for custom Marvel 'Yondu' or 'Nightcrawler' iterations.

Overall Assessment

A standout figure from the Tournament of Elements wave. His unique head print and character significance make him a must-have for the Ninjago collector.
