Kraang

Figure ID

tnt015

Theme

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Year Released

2013 and 2014; it debuted in the first wave of the TMNT theme following LEGO's acquisition of the license from Mega Bloks.

Rarity

Uncommon; while it appeared in three sets, the TMNT license has been retired for a decade, making figures from this line increasingly difficult to find in pristine condition.

Head

Light Fleshish Grey; features a robotic face print with pink eyes, mechanical cheek details, and a small blue stripe on top. It is a standard minifigure head shape unlike the 'Kraang Android' variant.

Torso

Light Fleshish Grey; the print depicts the internal cavity housing the Kraang brain (pink alien) with green eyes and a frowny mouth. The surrounding armor features silver, dark purple, and medium blue paneling.

Legs

Light Fleshish Grey with Dark Bluish Grey hips; features extensive printing showing robotic plating, purple knee joints, and light blue thruster/vent details on the toes.

Accessories

In its most common set appearances, this figure came with a small translucent-purple stud-shooter or a simple grey blaster. No accessories are present in the provided image.

Color Scheme

Primary Light Fleshish Grey (flat silver-style grey) with accents of pink, dark purple, medium blue, and lime green for the alien's eyes.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing showing front torso, front legs, and toe details. There is no arm printing, but back printing is present on the torso showing mechanical plates.

Variants

Standard Kraang (this one), the Kraang Android (tnt039) which features a unique oversized molded head, and the clear 'Kraang' brain-only piece.

Condition Notes

Common wear points include silver printing rubbing off the torso and legs. The grey plastic is prone to showing 'bite' marks or scratches more easily than darker colors.

Estimated Value

Current market value is approximately $5.00 - $8.00 USD for used condition and $10.00 - $14.00 USD for new/mint condition.

Price (New)

Originally available in sets ranging from $12.99 (Kraang Lab Escape) to $39.99 (Turtle Sub Undersea Chase).

Compatible Sets

79100 Kraang Lab Escape (2013), 75333 Stealth Shell in Pursuit (2013), and 79121 Turtle Sub Undersea Chase (2014).

Character Background

The Kraang are an alien race of brain-like creatures from Dimension X. This minifigure represents their standard 'Exo-suit' used to blend in and fight on Earth in the 2012 Nickelodeon series.

Design Notes

The use of a standard head rather than the specialized mold used for the later Android variant makes this a more 'traditional' LEGO-style representation of the character.

Similar Minifigures

Kraang Android (tnt039), Foot Soldier (tnt005), and various versions of Shredder from the same theme.

Collectibility

Moderate; interest in the TMNT 2012 series is stable. Collectors usually seek to 'army build' these, which keeps the demand consistently higher than a single-character figure.

History

Part of the transition LEGO made in the early 2010s to acquire more Nickelodeon properties. It remains the only time LEGO has produced the TMNT license before it moved back to other competitors.

Interesting Facts

The printing on the torso is one of the few instances where LEGO has printed a 'character within a character,' showing the pink Kraang brain inside the metal suit.

Display Suggestions

Looks best in a laboratory MOC or a sewer scene alongside the four Turtle brothers. Use a translucent purple baseplate to simulate Dimension X energy.

Modification Potential

The head and torso are excellent for sci-fi MOCs, specifically for building generic service robots or hive-mind alien soldiers.

Overall Assessment

A solid, highly-detailed figure from a beloved retired theme. It captures the 2012 show aesthetic perfectly and is a must-have for TMNT completionists.
