Iron Man Mark 41 - Bones

Figure ID

sh231

Theme

Marvel Super Heroes

Year Released

2016 (Debuted in set 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle)

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While the set was widely available, this specific armor suit is exclusive to a single high-priced set and is highly sought after by Iron Man armor completionists.

Head

Features a translucent clear head with Tony Stark printing (double-sided with a determined expression and a HUD/tech display). The helmet is a two-piece gold mold with a flip-up faceplate.

Torso

Pearl Gold torso with intricate black and dark red mechanical detailing representing the thin, skeletal plating of the Mark 41 suit. It includes the circular Unibeam/Arc Reactor in the center.

Legs

Pearl Gold legs with dark red and black intricate printing continuing the skeletal armor pattern from the torso down to the toes.

Accessories

Includes a brick-built back attachment (as shown in the image) representing flight stabilizers or weapons. The figure originally came with blue power blast pieces, though the image shows a flame/fire piece.

Color Scheme

Dominant Pearl Gold with Dark Red and Black accents. Unlike the traditional red/gold Iron Man suits, this 'Bones' armor is primarily gold.

Printing Details

High-density pad printing on the front and back of the torso, as well as the front of the legs. The armor detail is more 'skeletal' than other suits, requiring very fine linework.

Variants

There are no official LEGO variants of the Mark 41. However, this figure is often compared to the Silver Centurion (sh232) released in the same year.

Condition Notes

Pearl Gold plastic is prone to visible scratches and swirl marks. The gold printing on the faceplate can rub off over time if handled frequently. Check for hair-line cracks on the torso sides.

Estimated Value

Used: $25 - $35 USD; New: $45 - $55 USD. Values fluctuate based on the condition of the gold printing and whether the translucent head is included.

Price (New)

Originally included in set 76051 which retailed for $79.99 USD in 2016.

Compatible Sets

76051 Super Hero Airport Battle.

Character Background

The Mark 41, nicknamed 'Bones,' is a Skeleton Suit from the Iron Legion seen in Iron Man 3. It was designed for speed and maneuverability by stripping away heavy plating.

Design Notes

This figure is notable for being one of the few Iron Man suits to break the red primary color scheme. It accurately captures the 'hollow' look of the movie suit via dense black linework.

Similar Minifigures

Iron Man Mark 42 (sh065), Silver Centurion (sh232), and Iron Man Mark 37 'Hammerhead' (sh230).

Collectibility

High. Because Marvel fans enjoy 'Hall of Armor' displays, every unique MK suit increases in value once retired.

History

Released during the Captain America: Civil War wave, despite the suit itself originating from the Iron Man 3 'House Party Protocol' sequence.

Interesting Facts

The 'Bones' suit is unique because its parts can fly independently and reattach, a feature LEGO mimicked by making the suit look fragmented in its printing.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in a 'Hall of Armor' MOC or on a transparent flight stand to showcase the skeletal leg printing. Note: The figure in the photo is incorrectly placed on a LEGO Dimensions base (Ninjago Kai base).

Modification Potential

Excellent for custom 'Iron Legion' drones given the unique gold base. The back-stud can accommodate a variety of wings or thruster packs.

Overall Assessment

A standout minifigure due to its unique color palette and high-detail printing. It is a vital piece for any dedicated Marvel LEGO collector.
