Year Released

2015 - Released as part of the initial wave of LEGO Dimensions expansion packs, marking a significant era of licensed cross-over content.

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare - Exclusive to the 71201 LEGO Dimensions Level Pack and the subsequent Doc Brown Fun Pack. It is no longer in production.

Head

Light Flesh dual-sided head. One side features a slight smile and aged wrinkles; the alternate side features a shocked expression. Hair is a unique white mold specifically designed to replicate Christopher Lloyd's iconic messy hair.

Torso

White Hazmat suit printing. Features a radiation symbol on the back, a calculator watch on the wrist area, a pocket with pens, and the signature belt with tools and wires. White arms with light flesh hands.

Legs

Plain white legs with no printing. The simplicity of the legs shifts all focus to the detailed torso design.

Accessories

Typically comes with a trans-light blue 1x2 plate with a remote control sticker (representing the DeLorean RC) in the Level Pack, or a wrench in the Fun Pack. The figure in the image is missing its physical accessories.

Color Scheme

Dominantly white and light flesh, accented with black, red, and orange details on the torso print to reflect the scientific equipment of the hazmat suit.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the torso (front and back) and head. Detail includes pocket pens, a black belt, and facial age lines. No arm or leg printing is present.

Variants

This 2015 version differs from the 2013 DeLorean Time Machine (21103) version which had a yellow hazmat suit. This white version is considered more movie-accurate to the 'Twin Pines Mall' scene.

Condition Notes

Susceptible to yellowing of the white plastic if exposed to UV. The white hair piece can easily pick up dirt in its crevices. Head print alignment on older figures and neck cracks are common points of inspection.

Estimated Value

Used: $15 - $25; New (with Dimensions tag base): $30 - $45. Value fluctuates based on the inclusion of the toy tag base required for the video game.

Price (New)

$29.99 (original retail for the Level Pack); $14.99 (original retail for the Fun Pack solo release).

Compatible Sets

71201 Back to the Future Level Pack; 71230 Doc Brown Fun Pack.

Character Background

Emmett 'Doc' Brown is the eccentric inventor of the time machine from the Back to the Future trilogy. This outfit represents his appearance during the first time-travel experiment with Einstein the dog.

Design Notes

The hair mold is the standout element, perfectly capturing the character's manic energy. The inclusion of the calculator watch print on the sleeve area shows high attention to detail for a 2015 figure.

Similar Minifigures

Doc Brown (21103 - Yellow Suit variant), Marty McFly (dim001), Marty McFly (21103), and Biff Tannen (Dimensions).

Collectibility

High demand among 80s movie fans and Dimensions collectors. As official Back to the Future sets are released sporadically, this specific variant remains a cornerstone for collectors of the franchise.

History

Following the success of the 21103 Ideas set, LEGO expanded the license into the 'Toys-to-Life' gaming market, leading to more refined designs of the main characters compared to their 21103 predecessors.

Interesting Facts

This minifigure was released as both a Level Pack (with the train) and a Fun Pack (with the locomotive), making it one of the few Dimensions characters available in two different SKU types.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside the 21103 DeLorean or the larger 10300 Time Machine. Use a clear acrylic case to prevent the white plastic from yellowing.

Modification Potential

The hair piece is frequently used for custom 'Mad Scientist' MOCs or even Albert Einstein customs. The white hazmat torso is useful for laboratory or apocalypse-themed dioramas.

Overall Assessment

A top-tier licensed minifigure with a 9/10 desirability score. The unique hair mold and accurate torso printing make it the definitive version of 1985 Doc Brown.
