Theme
Collectible Minifigures (CMF)
Year Released
September 2024; released as part of the 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons celebration.
Rarity
Uncommon; as a CMF, it is randomly boxed but widely available at launch via 'blind packaging' (scanning QR codes makes it easier to find).
Head
Dark red molded specialized head piece with dragon facial features; includes an opening / open-mouthed look with molded horns and snout.
Torso
Dark red with silver/grey heavy plate armor printing; features intricate scale mail and a layered pauldrons look. Black arms and black hands.
Legs
Dark red with silver Greaves (armor) printing, scale mail details, and white clawed toes at the base; dual-molded effects are simulated by high-quality printing.
Accessories
Includes dark red dragon wings and a dark red tail attached via neck and hip bracket; typically comes with a blue aura-wrapped morningstar and a shield with the Bahamut symbol (shield/weapon missing in image).
Color Scheme
Dominant Red and Pearl Dark Grey; accents of Silver and White. Represents a Red Dragonborn or a Paladin of Bahamut/Tiamat depending on user customization.
Printing Details
Extremely high-quality 360-degree printing; includes back torso scales and leg printing on the front. Alignment is typically excellent for this series.
Variants
Standard Series 25 version; no official factory variants, though the D&D theme encourages part-swapping with other figures in the series.
Condition Notes
The wing and tail attachment points (neck and hip) are the primary stress areas. Careful not to bend the soft plastic of the wings. Minimal wing-print fading is expected over time.
Estimated Value
Used: $5-$7; New/Never assembled: $6-$9. Price is currently stable as it is a modern release.
Price (New)
$4.99 USD per individual mystery box; part of set 71047.
Compatible Sets
71047 LEGO Minifigures - Dungeons & Dragons Series; also fits perfectly with 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale.
Character Background
Based on the Dungeons & Dragons race/class combo. Dragonborn are humanoid draconic beings; Paladins are holy warriors bound by an oath. The shield symbol depicts Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon.
Design Notes
Features a unique molded head that allows for a 'roaring' pose. The inclusion of both wings and tail makes it one of the most substantial 'creature' minifigures in the CMF line.
Similar Minifigures
Vidiyo Dragon Guitarist, Series 18 Dragon Suit Guy, Ninjago Crystallized Dragon forms.
Collectibility
High; the D&D licensing is a first for LEGO, making this series highly sought after by both LEGO completionists and tabletop RPG fans.
History
Represents the first officially licensed Dungeons & Dragons minifigure wave, a milestone for LEGO's adult/hobbyist collector expansion in 2024.
Interesting Facts
The printing on the armor is designed to look like the 'Heavy Plate' gear in the Player's Handbook. It is one of the few figures to use both a neck-bracket and hip-bracket accessory simultaneously.
Display Suggestions
Display on a tavern-themed MOC or on a 1x2 brick stand to allow for the tail and wing clearance. Use a light blue LED to highlight the 'divine' smite effect of its weapons.
Modification Potential
Excellent for 'purist customs.' Swap the head for a standard human head to create a Dragon Slayer, or use the wings for demonic Lord of the Rings MOCs.
Overall Assessment
10/10 for design. A standout figure of 2024 that maximizes the physical limits of what can be attached to a standard minifigure frame.
