Dogshank

Figure ID

njo195

Theme

Ninjago

Year Released

2016

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While she appeared in a major retail set, she is a unique 'BigFig' mold that was only released in a single set (Tiger Widow Island).

Head

The figure is a 'BigFig' with a molded head/torso combination. The face print features glowing orange eyes, a teal skin tone, and a dark green molded samurai-style mask and helmet integrated into the upper body. The helmet features a white skull emblem (Sky Pirates logo) and large crescent-shaped horns.

Torso

Oversized 'BigFig' torso in bright orange and dark green. Printing includes a broken metallic orange breastplate, a brown leather-style belt with the Sky Pirate emblem, and a small mechanical pipe detail. The arms are heavily muscled orange plastic with dark brown hands.

Legs

Short, stocky BigFig legs molded in orange with dark green printing on the thighs representing armor plating and knee segments.

Accessories

Includes a dual-molded dark green shoulder armor piece with a white horn/tusk protrusion. Historically, the set included large brick-built anchors as weapons, though they are not pictured here.

Color Scheme

Primary colors are Bright Orange and Dark Green. Accents include Teal (skin), Dark Brown (hands), and White (skull and tusk).

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the chest, belt, and thighs. The 'BigFig' style allows for larger, more illustrative prints compared to standard minifigures, such as the detailed Sky Pirate crest on the buckle.

Variants

There are no known production variants of this specific character. This is the only version of Dogshank ever produced by LEGO.

Condition Notes

Common wear points include the wrist joints (clutch power loss) and potential paint scuffing on the helmet's horns or the skull emblem. The large surface area of the orange plastic is prone to visible scratches.

Estimated Value

Used: $25.00 - $35.00 USD. New (extracted from set): $40.00 - $55.00 USD. Value is driven by her exclusivity to one discontinued set.

Price (New)

She appeared in set 70598 'Tiger Widow Island' which retailed for $44.99 USD in 2016.

Compatible Sets

Character Background

Dogshank was a former champion boxer who was double-crossed and made a wish to Nadakhan the Djinn to never be looked down upon again. He twisted the wish, turning her into a massive, powerful giantess. She served as the muscle for the Sky Pirates.

Design Notes

Dogshank uses a unique BigFig mold specifically designed to capture her sheer bulk compared to normal minifigures. The integration of the samurai helmet into the neck/torso mold is a notable design choice for the Skybound wave.

Similar Minifigures

Other Ninjago BigFigs like Killow (njo404) or Garmadon (The LEGO Ninjago Movie version), as well as other Sky Pirates like Nadakhan or Flintlocke.

Collectibility

High. Ninjago collectors highly prize the 'villain generals' and unique BigFigs, especially those from popular seasons like Skybound.

History

Released during the peak of Ninjago's 'Skybound' era (Season 6), marking the first time a female character was given the 'BigFig' treatment in the Ninjago line.

Interesting Facts

She is one of the few Sky Pirates who eventually shows a sense of honor and redeems herself by helping the Ninja during the season's climax. The skull on her helmet is the same logo found on the Misfortune's Keep flags.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside the Tiger Widow Island set or with the full crew of the Sky Pirates (Nadakhan, Flintlocke, Doubloon, Clancee, and Cyren). Because of her height, she fits best at the back of a minifigure tiered display.

Modification Potential

Limited due to the BigFig mold, but the back features two Technic pin holes which can be used to mount custom banners, wings, or weapon racks.

Overall Assessment

An excellent, highly detailed figure that perfectly captures the aesthetic of the 2016 Ninjago wave. A must-have for Ninjago completionists due to her unique mold and character importance.
