Rise of the Snakes · 2012 (First release)

Figure ID
njo050
Theme
Ninjago
Year Released
2012 (First release)
Rarity
Uncommon. While he appeared in a relatively accessible set, he was only produced in three sets during the original 2012 serpent wave, making him a specific hunt for tribal completionists.
Head
Lime green head with reptilian features; small black pupils in yellow eyes, dark green scales around the eyes and jaw, and a small red opening for a mouth showing fangs. This head is single-sided and topped with a molded lime green scout-style snake headgear.
Torso
Lime green torso with detailed reptilian printing. Features a dark green v-neck pattern, yellow-green scales, and most notably, two red vials hanging from a dark green strap across the chest. The hands are black.
Legs
Lime green legs with black hip piece. Printing includes dark green scale patterns and a continuation of the strap/belt from the torso on the upper left thigh.
Accessories
Missing in image. Originally included a silver spear or a venom-axe (set dependent). He is also often seen holding various snake-related staff elements in promotional material.
Color Scheme
Primary: Lime (Lime Green). Accents: Dark Green, Red (vials), and Black (hands and hips). This is the characteristic color scheme of the Venomari tribe.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing typical of the early Ninjago era. The print covers the center of the torso and the front of the legs. Alignment is generally excellent on these 2012-era figures.
Variants
There are subtle variations in printing intensity over production runs. A 'Legacy' version (njo498) was released in 2019 with updated, more detailed scale printing and different eye details.
Condition Notes
The lime green plastic is prone to 'torso cracking' under the arms if the arms are moved frequently. Check the black hands for teeth marks or stress whitening. Printing on the torso is usually durable, but leg printing can fade with heavy play.
Estimated Value
Used: $4.00 - $7.00 USD. New (extracted from set): $10.00 - $15.00 USD. Value is stable but lower than the Generals/Leaders of the tribes.
Price (New)
Came in sets ranging from $9.99 (9447 Lasha's Bite Cycle) to $49.99 (9444 Cole's Tread Assault). This figure was a mid-tier grunt within the wave pricing structure.
Compatible Sets
9447 Lasha's Bite Cycle (2012), 9444 Cole's Tread Assault (2012), 9562 Lasha (Spinner set, 2012).
Character Background
Lasha is a member of the Venomari, one of the five ancient Serpentine tribes. Within the show's lore, he serves as a scout and warrior. Known for his lack of intelligence compared to his leaders, he is often used as muscle or distraction.
Design Notes
This figure features the unique 2012 Serpentine head mold which combines a standard minifigure head shape with an elongated, molded snout/headgear piece that cannot be removed from the head part.
Similar Minifigures
Spitta (njo049), Acidicus (njo066), and other 2012 Serpentine like Fangtom or Skales.
Collectibility
High for Ninjago fans. The 2012 Serpentine are considered the 'Golden Age' of Ninjago villain collecting. While Lasha is a 'grunt,' completing all five tribes is a common goal for collectors.
History
Lasha was part of the very first expansion of Ninjago beyond the Skeleton army. This wave cemented Ninjago as a permanent theme for LEGO, moving away from its planned 3-year limited run.
Interesting Facts
The red vials on his chest are meant to contain 'Venomari Venom,' which in the show causes victims to hallucinate. He is the only Venomari scout with this specific vial printing.
Display Suggestions
Display alongside other Venomari tribe members or on a tan/earth-toned baseplate to represent the Ouroboros desert. Looks best when paired with the 2012 Lasha's Bite Cycle vehicle.
Modification Potential
Low for purists due to the unique head mold, but the torso is popular for fantasy MOCs involving reptilian humanoids or lizard-men.
Overall Assessment
A solid, nostalgic figure for Ninjago fans. Its unique lime green color and tribal aesthetic make it a standout budget pick for those wanting a piece of Ninjago's 'Rise of the Snakes' history. Rating: 7/10.
