Character Background

Doubloon is a member of Nadakhan's Sky Pirates. According to Ninjago lore, he was once a master thief who was cursed and turned into a silent, two-faced silent general after trying to steal from the Djinn.

Design Notes

The face print is the standout feature, utilizing an 'Oni' aesthetic that would later become a major plot point in Ninjago seasons. The use of mismatched leg colors (Dark Brown/Orange) highlights his patchwork pirate nature.

Similar Minifigures

Clancee, Flintlocke, Monkey Wretch, and other Sky Pirates from the 2016 wave.

Collectibility

Moderate. He is essential for completing the 'Skybound' villain roster, which is a fan-favorite era of Ninjago, but he is not as rare as Nadakhan himself.

History

Introduced during the 6th season of Ninjago (Skybound). This era marked a shift toward more steampunk-inspired pirate designs compared to earlier serpentine or ghost themes.

Interesting Facts

Despite having two faces, the character never speaks in the animated series, only communicating through gestures and growls.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on a clear bricks-built stand to mimic a flying pose, or placed on the 'Raid Zeppelin' set (70603) alongside other Sky Pirates.

Modification Potential

The head and turban are excellent for custom 'Eastern' style warriors or fantasy D&D-style assassins.

Overall Assessment

A solid, highly-detailed antagonist figure. While not a 'grail' for investors, his unique dual-sided face print and vibrant color palette make him a standout mid-tier Ninjago collectible.
