Anubis Guard
pha008 · Pharaoh's Quest
Ancient Egypt Mystery · 2011

Figure ID
pha008
Theme
Pharaoh's Quest
Year Released
2011
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While included in two sets, the theme was short-lived (only one year), making these specific mythological figures highly sought after by collectors of historical and fantasy themes.
Head
Unique molded purple jackal head piece with large ears. Features gold eyes and black pupil printing. The mold includes a small silver ring/notched detail on the left ear.
Torso
Dark purple torso with Egyptian collar/necklace printing (Wesekh) featuring gold and sand blue patterns. No back printing. Dark purple arms and hands.
Legs
Sand blue legs with dark blue and gold printing. The print patterns represent an Egyptian kilt (schenti) with gold diamond accents. The feet have gold claw/toenail printing.
Accessories
As shown, the figure is missing its primary accessory, which is a gold-handled spear with a curved black blade (Harpe-style). No capes or additional gear were included officially.
Color Scheme
Primary: Dark Purple. Accents: Sand Blue, Gold, and Black. This is a rare color palette for LEGO, specifically chosen to represent the divine/mythological nature of the character.
Printing Details
Pad-printed gold and sand blue details. Printing is high contrast against the dark purple plastic. Coverage includes head (eyes), torso (front necklace), and legs (front kilt and feet).
Variants
There are no official LEGO variants of this specific purple Anubis Guard. However, similar 'Jackal' molds exist in other themes like Legends of Chima (Anubis-like characters), but they use different colors and molds.
Condition Notes
The molded ears are prone to 'bite marks' or stress. Gold printing on the toes is often the first to wear off during play. The neck joint of the large molded head can become loose over time.

Compatible Sets
7325 Cursed Cobra Statue (2011), 7326 Rise of the Sphinx (2011).
Character Background
Based on the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis. In the Pharaoh's Quest lore, these are supernatural guardians summoned to protect the Pharaoh's treasures from explorers Jake Raines and his team.
Design Notes
A standout design of the 2011 era; the head is a single unique mold rather than a standard minifigure head with a helmet. It marked a transition toward more specialized creature molding.
Similar Minifigures
Mummy Warrior (pha004), Flying Mummy (pha005), and Series 19 CMF Mummy Queen (col347).
Collectibility
High. LEGO rarely revisits Ancient Egyptian mythology outside of the 'Pharaoh's Quest' and 'Adventurers' themes, making these guards staple pieces for 'mummy' or 'history' dioramas.
History
Released as part of LEGO's attempt to create a spiritual successor to the 'Adventurers' line. It was part of the only wave of Pharaoh's Quest sets ever produced.
Interesting Facts
Despite being called 'Anubis Guards,' the figure uses a much more vibrant purple than the traditional black associated with the historical god Anubis, likely for visual pop in play sets.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed in pairs flanking a tomb entrance or Sphinx. UV protection is recommended as the dark purple plastic can shows fading or 'pinking' if left in direct sunlight.
Modification Potential
Excellent for MOCs (My Own Creations) involving Stargate-themed builds or fantasy RPG scenarios. The head is compatible with any standard minifigure torso.
Overall Assessment
A visually striking and unique figure with a high-quality mold. Despite being over a decade old, the design holds up to modern standards. A 'must-have' for fans of mythological or historical LEGO themes.
