Star-Lord (Peter Quill) - Dark Red Suit

Figure ID

sh380

Theme

Marvel Super Heroes

Year Released

2017 - Released as part of the Summer wave for the second Guardians of the Galaxy film; this period marked a transition into more complex torso and leg printing for Marvel figures.

Rarity

Uncommon - While not extremely rare, it was only included in two sets from the Vol. 2 wave and was quickly superseded by the 2018 Infinity War and 2023 Vol. 3 designs.

Head

Light flesh tone with a dual-sided face: one side features a cocky smirk, and the reverse side features an angry/determined expression with stubble printing. It uses the wavy dark orange/medium nougat hairpiece.

Torso

Dark Red base color with front and back printing detailing Peter Quill's Ravager coat. Features a zipper detail, a blue shirt underneath, and a detailed Ravager emblem on the left chest. Arms are solid dark red.

Legs

Solid dark red with no printing. This is the primary differentiator from the 'long coat' version, which features printed leg detailing.

Accessories

Includes two flat silver Quad Blasters (Element 14455). These are character-unique molds designed specifically for the Star-Lord minifigure line.

Color Scheme

Primary Dark Red with Dark Tan, Blue, and Black accent printing. Skin tone is light flesh, and hair is medium nougat.

Printing Details

Pad-printed torso with high detail on the zipper and Ravager badge. Lack of leg and arm printing makes this a more 'budget' version of the character compared to the 'swashbuckler' variants.

Variants

Variants include sh122 (Original 2014), sh384 (Jetpack version with printed legs), and various Infinity War/Endgame versions. This specific variant (sh380) is the sleeveless-tunic-look version.

Condition Notes

The Dark Red plastic is sturdy, but the flat silver blasters are prone to 'bite marks' or tooth impressions. Look for torso cracks under the arms and fading on the facial stubble printing.

Estimated Value

Used: $5.00 - $8.00 USD; New/Mint: $10.00 - $13.00 USD. Prices fluctuate based on the popularity of MCU releases.

Price (New)

Available in sets 76080 ($29.99) and 76079 ($19.99). The price-per-minifigure context was roughly $5.00 - $7.50 at retail.

Compatible Sets

76079 Ravager Attack, 76080 Ayesha's Revenge

Character Background

Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. This version represents his outfit during the battle against Ego the Living Planet.

Design Notes

The hair piece was a newer mold at the time designed to capture Chris Pratt's look. The dual blasters remain one of the most accurate weapon-to-film molds in the Marvel line.

Similar Minifigures

sh122 Star-Lord (Masked), sh384 Star-Lord (Printed Legs), and sh908 (Vol. 3 Uniform).

Collectibility

Medium. It is an essential character for team completion, but since many versions of Star-Lord exist, only completionists or those building the Milano/Benatar crews seek this exact variant.

History

Follows the 2014 original release. This 2017 version simplified the leg design compared to the 2014 variant but improved the facial likeness to the actor.

Interesting Facts

The blasters are modeled so they can be attached to the sides of several LEGO elements, mimicking Star-Lord's thigh-holsters in the movies, despite this figure lacking printing for them.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed alongside Rocket Raccoon and Groot from the same sets. Using a transparent clear bar to simulate jumping/flying with his jetpack adds dynamic flair.

Modification Potential

Highly modifiable. Swapping the legs for the printed versions from sh384 creates the 'definitive' 2017 movie look. The hair piece is also popular for custom minifigures of modern actors.

Overall Assessment

A solid, mid-tier Marvel minifigure. While it lacks the premium leg printing of other 2017 variants, the torso and accessory accuracy make it a staple of the Vol. 2 collection.
