Shoretrooper (Scarif Stormtrooper)

Figure ID

sw0787

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2016 - Released alongside the debut of Rogue One in the LEGO Star Wars winter wave.

Rarity

Uncommon. While not exclusive to a single high-priced set, this specific 'grunt' variant only appeared in one retail set and one polybag, making it harder to find than standard Stormtroopers.

Head

Standard plain black head used for many armored Star Wars characters to create a visor effect beneath the helmet. The helmet is a unique mold with Tan and White printing representing the Shoretrooper breather and visor.

Torso

Tan torso with detailed white and dark gray printing. Features sand-colored chest plate armor with vertical strap details and a belt line. Plain tan arms with black hands.

Legs

Tan legs with dark brown hip piece. Detailed printing on the front of the legs represents combat trousers with armor panels and knee pads in tan/white.

Accessories

Includes one black standard medium blaster (E-11 rifle equivalent). No other accessories such as capes or backpacks are included in this specific variant.

Color Scheme

Primary color is Tan (Sand Yellow). Accents in White, Dark Brown, and Black. This represents the tropical/beach camouflage used on the planet Scarif.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the torso front and leg front. The helmet features complex wrap-around printing to define the faceplate. No back printing on the legs and standard armor printing on the torso back.

Variants

Three main variants exist: sw0787 (Regular grunt, pictured here), sw0815 (Shoretrooper Squad Leader with blue arm markings), and sw0850 (Shoretrooper Captain with blue and yellow chest markings).

Condition Notes

Common wear points include the neck post (cracking) and the helmet printing (scuffing on the visor). The tan plastic is susceptible to UV discoloration (browning) if kept in direct sunlight.

Estimated Value

Used: $25 - $35 USD. New/Mint: $40 - $50 USD. Polybag (30606) sealed: $60+ USD.

Price (New)

Originally available in Set 75154 ($89.99 USD) and Polybag 30606 (Gift with Purchase or localized retail for ~$5.00).

Compatible Sets

75154 TIE Striker (2016), 30606 Shoretrooper Polybag (2016).

Character Background

Specialized stormtroopers stationed at the top-secret Imperial security complex on the tropical planet Scarif. They are coastal defense stormtroopers, first appearing in the film Rogue One.

Design Notes

The helmet mold for this figure is widely considered one of the best Star Wars molds of the era, accurately capturing the flatter, wider profile of the coastal trooper compared to the standard Stormtrooper.

Similar Minifigures

sw0815 Shoretrooper Squad Leader, sw0850 Shoretrooper Captain, sw1143 Shoretrooper (newer dual-mold version from 2021).

Collectibility

High. Army builders frequently seek these out to create Scarif dioramas. Demand remains steady as Rogue One is highly regarded by fans.

History

Debuted in late 2016. This 2016 version paved the way for Shoretrooper appearances in The Mandalorian sets later on, though the printing techniques evolved slightly in the newer versions.

Interesting Facts

The 'Grunt' version (sw0787) is actually less common in large set collections than the Squad Leader, despite being a lower rank in-universe, because it was only in the TIE Striker set.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on a beach-themed baseplate with Tan (Sand) and Trans-Light Blue (Water) bricks. Pairs perfectly with K-2SO and Jyn Erso figures.

Modification Potential

Excellent for MOCs. The tan legs and detailed torso are often used for custom wasteland survivors or desert-themed soldiers using 3rd party weapons from BrickArms.

Overall Assessment

A standout figure from the Rogue One wave. Excellent mold work and accurate color selection make it a must-have for Star Wars collectors and army builders.
